Guest guest
Juniper Berry essential oil has been recommended for those whom suspect Morgellon's. Your spice baths are right on, have you tried the pomade bath? It is H202, orange, and clove oil. You can add borax too if you like. I use the borax in a similar manner as one would a sugar, salt, or apricot kernal scrub, gentle sloughing. I threw out years worth too. I was heart sick at first, but now....albeit a few little twinges here and there, but I feel better without it. Guest guest
I have one close, but I will try this now. Bath time after this cabinet, maybe I will float a pomegranite in it for seasonal effect..lol. Trish from ESP is working a new line of bath products to help us. Can't wait. Wormwood, juniper, all sorts of good stuff. b > > > > Juniper Berry essential oil has been recommended for those whom > suspect Morgellon's. > > > > Your spice baths are right on, have you tried the pomade bath? Guest guest
I wonder if putting heirlooms and such in storage would eventually rid the items of these things? Or, what about leaving the home for several months and starving the beasties out? > > I did the Rita dehumidifier in the baasement Not feeling many hits but > the basement is and has been a hot spot for me. Guest guest
I have had a storage unit since March. I used a layer of Nylar with a knockdown and in the boxes used Menthol sachets with the items in a plastic bag and then in a box. I use pest strips to monitor the environment. Going in tomorrow......eishhh....thinking seriously of a hazmat suit....lol As far as your environment, if you can leave and its in your means. You will still need to treat. You cannot account for mice or other sources you may not be aware of in the home, attic, or crawl spaces. Guest guest
I wonder if laying out lots of rodent poison would eliminate alternate food sources? We blocked up all holes that birds can potentially nest in (should have done that the first time). Will this be your first time " going in " to your storage unit to monitor for the little bastards? Where do you find menthol sachets? Asked the lady at the health food store about menthol crystals and she was clueless. We stayed at a hotel last night and I felt quite a bit better there. Felt the crawlers but didn't get bit once. Can't be sure if the crawlers were on my person or the clothes I brought from home, though. Yes, they had been washed but it seems regular washing and drying doesn't kill these suckers! I also found swimming in the hotel's chlorinated pool and floating in their jacazzui very helpful. But when we arrived home it didn't take long for the attacks to start....with a vengence. > > > > I did the Rita dehumidifier in the baasement Not feeling many hits but > > the basement is and has been a hot spot for me. Guest guest
Hope you are using stuff to treat the hotel room you stayed in, otherwise you are responsible for infesting the maids, and all the other guests that will be staying in that room after you. > > > > > > I did the Rita dehumidifier in the baasement Not feeling many hits > but > > > the basement is and has been a hot spot for me. Guest guest
The thing about rodent poison is that yes it does kill the pest rodent. And yes, I could be over thinking all of this.....lol But, what happens if the rodents are host too? The thing about mice esp is they tend to run a line in your walls about a foot above the subflooring level within the walls of your home. You can tell a mice infestation by black streak marks at that level on walls. It is a trail of urine and excrement that over time can leach through the dry wall leaving a scuff mark and yes, it does show through paint. This is especially true in heavy mice infestations. My point is they are in places in which prove incredibly difficult to remove their bodies once killed. You blocked the holes where the birds were nesting, but what about other access points into the home. Around the windows, baseboards, gaps in moulding, dryer vents, pet doors,..... The mites are especially small. If they have indeed migrated from bird hosts or from a higher point in your home to a point where they bite and plague from the living levels of the home, think of the area they have to cover for such small stature. If indeed they came from above, how did they get in? If indeed that which you suffer is birdmites, there are some that can survive up to 9 months depending on the source you choose to believe, and that is without a blood meal. May I strongly suggest you rethink about treating whether you leave or not. I realize it would be much easier to just leave, turning ones home inside and out on a weekly basis for knockdown and IGR treatment is a huge pain in the a$$ to say the least especially with no help or when working. My storage unit. No, this will be the third time. The first time was awful but that is when we did the nylar, knockdown. The second was a little better, so we unpacked and repacked everything with the menthol crystals and reapplied the others. I bought my crystals from mountainroseherbs.com I also purchased tea bags and used those as a "sachet". This is not the cheapest source for the crystals, but I buy a lot from this site anyways, so I added it.http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?keywords=menthol+crystals http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/tea_tool/infusers.php#tt_pnb_s I have heard that swimming and soaking in the hot tub is helpful. Guest guest
Hot tubs are helpful because of the chemicals in them. I use a product in my own tub, Soft Soak, shock and oxidizer by Spaguard. It saved me in the beginning when I was totally infested. It works so well because it is 7% H202. It pulled many black mites out of me. b > > > > > > > > I did the Rita dehumidifier in the baasement Not feeling many hits > > but > > > > the basement is and has been a hot spot for me. Guest guest
I unpacked a few of our christmas items last week. It was with trepidation, as this time last year we were still battling this plague.... Anyway....there was nothing on them......all our christmas ornaments were in the house while heat treating, and we dont have to worry about an infested tree as we melted that I know that we are all aware that we may not be battling the same 'things', but in our case, decorative items, and things that we never were in direct contact with, never did get infested. z
Guest guest
I only use it now when one of my bathes is perticularly purging and causing crawlies for a while afterwards. I will fill up the tub, add it, stir it in well, and let it sit 30 minutes before I get in. Never failed me to stop my body crawlies. Environment after the tub was another thing for a while, couldn't tell if it was me or someone dropping on me. I haven't black spotted for months, only small nymphs and something a little bigger floating ( and squirming) on the suface of the tub. I can see them if I'm very still and catch the overhead light on the surface of the water. Sounds silly, but it's how I can tell how effective each bath combo I take is on my mite load. Guest guest
Hey Bob, Hang in there with them. Don't throw anything out just yet. Spray your magic oils on everything every so often and maybe it will be ok. Last Christmas I didn't get out any of the decorations as I knew we were infested with " something " . This year... with much anxiety... I got everything out.. opened everything up.. and didn't feel a thing! No bites... no crawlies... no nothing! What a relief! So hang in there B! Guest guest
Frito, is this one of those rented storage spaces? Or a storage unit that you put in the back yard? Regardless, are you saying Nylar did not work for you but menthol crystals do? Do menthol crystals kill from your experience? How long are you leaving things stored with the crystals? Also is this a climate controled unit or can it get hot enough to evaporate the crystals for a more potent effect? kihun > My storage unit. No, this will be the third time. Guest guest
Frito, is this one of those rented storage spaces? Or a storage unit that you put in the back yard? Yes it is rented, and has its own enclosure with no ceiling gaps to other units. It is not heated or cooled. Yes, the menthol does melt away. I cannot quite say if the menthol is killing mine as I also have combined my efforts there as well. I do know from research on menthol use in the Varroa bees that not only does it kill the mites but it is an effective deterrent in the hives without killing the bees. From what I can determine, many mites react to menthol, it was my hope mine would too. Regardless, are you saying Nylar did not work for you but menthol crystals do? No, that is not the statement I made. When I first put my stuff in storage I was inundated by these things and I was very ill. I literally threw stuff in boxes or away and got them out of my house. The first time treating my unit, I used a knockdown with the Nylar. Nylar does not have an immediate effect on multitudes and simply takes a matter of weeks in which its effects are cyclic due to the cycle of the mite. That first time going in was awful, because it hadn't been treated like it should of been prior to going in in the first place. I have had nothing but good things with Nylar. Just threw out the least favs of my favs. No way am I giving up a tree (all hard, non wood ornaments) and the outdoor lights though. And of course I will be essential oiling the tree, constantly.. hehe b > > > > I did the Rita dehumidifier in the baasement Not feeling many hits > but > > the basement is and has been a hot spot for me.
