Using Diatomaceous Earth to treat hotel rooms is a good idea. I would

shake some in the room before bringing my stuff in(this would keep it

from getting infested). Do something else while it settles, use it on

the mattress before i lay down(under the covers) Then lay my own

blankets over theirs. Then shake a light layer of DE over the whole

room before leaving, and spray the bathroom top to bottom with

bleach/water solution, and microwave any towels used.

We're all victims of this in one way or another in that it was not our

fault how we got them. Z, I remember you saying before how you got

infested from a hotel visit. This really makes me think - I've had to

travel a lot for work before (every week, fly out, stay at hotel all

week, then come home, and repeat all over the week after). I've never

stayed at an infested hotel or rode a plane in which the seat was

infested. Maybe I've come across some and never knew it and was lucky

enough not to get infected. If you really think about it, it's pretty

gross right? Esp when you fly, the same plane may take 5 legs a day

with 5 different passangers in any given day in a given seat. They

don't change out the sheat behind the head, pillows/blankets are often

already used, and certainly don't wipe down the seats after every

flight. Yet most of us remain unbothered. Then there are a few of us

(few compared to the population) that by some wicked, strange,

unfortunate course of events got this. I bought a used car back in

June, it was a dream car for me, then I discovered that it was

infested w/ something. I have not contacted the previous owner but I

may end up doing it. Even if he's not legally obligated, I may try to

convince him on moral/ethical basis that he should either buy the car

back or pay for the cost of all the things I've bought and all the

possessions that I tossed out. Now I have 2 infected cars (my old car

and the " dream car " ), an infected condo, and probably an infected

self. I refuse to sell my cars b/c it is my moral obligation that I

don't inflict this nightmare on anyone else. At least not until I'm

over this.

It's really frustrating....

Yes, you are right, we are all victims of this....

and you are also right, when you think about it, motel beds are a

pretty gross consept anyway.....I wont be spending a night in one again

for as long as I live :) although I cant avoid plane seats.....

And what a nightmare you have had heaped on you with your car purchase.

It makes you just hope that when you were looking that man in the face

as he gave you those keys, that he had no idea that it was infested....

Although its probably more than likely that he knew very well what he

was passing on....

These mites can bring the best out of you, or the very worst out of you.

They can draw you nearer to your faith, and give you great empathy and

understanding for others (just look at this group)! or it can turn you

into a motel room hoper, and an infested car seller :)
