Guest guest
The following discussion may be of some help.....a total cure? Maybe for some.....but remains to beseen:==========================First some critical information:"Collies and related breeds (including the Sheltie, Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, English Shepherd, Bearded Collie, Silken Windhound, and others) may be sensitive to ivermectin due to a mutation in the multi-drug resistance gene."Ivermectin is the firstline treatment for mange in dogs and thankfully most dogs have the blood brain barrier and can tolorate it's use. Humans have the blood brain barrier and can safely use Ivermectin.Ivermectin isn't a new drug. It's been safely used on millions of people to treat parasites including sarcoptic mites since the mid 70's."Ivermectin (Stromectol) is related to macrolide antibiotics; it was developed in the 1970s as a veterinary treatment for animal parasites. Ivermectin also has been used to treat animal scabies, which causes mange. Ivermectin has been used in humans to treat MILLIONS of cases of onchocerciasis, other filariases, and intestinal nematodal infections such as strongyloidiasis."The CDC recommends Ivermectin as a first line scabies treatment, does that tell you anything about it's safe use in humans? This is wonder drug that saves lives and gives quality of life to suffering people and animals, it's no wonder you give it to the dogs you breed and sell. If you ever get scabies, and I hope you don't, I think you would change your mind about a few things.http://www.cdc.gov/STD/treatment/2006/ectopar...================================Thank you for posting about ivermectin, which is a wonder drug, in that it treats scabies better than anything else we know, much better. In fact, it may be the difference between cure and no cure in cases of atypical scabies. I am taking ivermectin every 3 days--I try to take it according to Sue's directions, without showering afterwards--that is what I am doing tonight, having showered first. I will try not to shower again until tomorrow afternoon.I combine it with overall topical treatment of some kind--sulfur, Benzemul Applicaion, permethrin, or just plain Bull Dog Spray. The consistent use of Stromectol (I now take the brand) has helped me to get down my mite count a lot--I continue to steadily treat, as I understand it is important to be consistent and, most important, persistent.Anyone who has ever suffered from resistant or atypical scabies must consider treatment with ivermectin--the sooner the better. ============================How can you truly call Ivermectin a wonder drug? Seriously. ==========================="Ivermectin 20 years on: maturation of a wonder drug G. Although much remains to be learned about how the drug works and how resistance to it will develop, it has earned the title of ¡wonder drug¢." ======================Since some family members still think it is in my head.(Even after dermatologist visit.) Anyway, I know what is in my body. I have the oral medication to take tonight. jenny's post mentions not to take a shower? Should I shower tonight and take or take and shower tomorrow? Please know that this forum has made a major difference in helping me get through a difficult situation. Thanks again and appreciate any info. on the Ivermectin. ====================Ivermectin is fat soluable and binds to fat and oil. Based on some research, some of the posters(who are cured) decided not to showers while Ivermectin is in the system so the oils on and in the stratum corneum outer skin layer retain as much of the ivermectin as possible. I think Ivermectin has activity on oily scalp. Ivermectin kills adult mites. It could be that there are immature mites in the scalp that won't be effected by Ivermectin. It's a good idea to use a topical along with the oral systemic treatment to kill the young mites. Nothing kills the eggs, that's why we have to repeat the treatments and kill the hatch mites. I can't stand the thought of eggs having to hatch. I wish there was something that killed the eggs too. Ivermectin makes me sleepy so I take in the evening, then I don't shower the next day. It's late on the east coast and your probably in bed. You can take it in morning too. It probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference but we try to use every trick up our sleeves. Some posters(cured) took their oral ivermecin with fatty food. This will increase the dose in the system by about twice. Drinking grapefruit juice may keep it longer in the system. =================="Ivermectin 20 years on: maturation of a wonder drug G. I mean did Ivermectin cured you on its own? Pills are not the answer to anything. If it was truly a wonder drug then you would have been cured years ago.=======================Posters here have strongly recommended not showering for 24 hours after taking ivermectin. I played fast and loose with that, and I was wrong. It really is important not to shower after taking iver to let natural body oils bind with iver. It is recommended to take iver on empty stomach, but some posters have taken it with high fat meal. I take it on empty stomach. Grapefruite juice supposedly keeps it in the system longer, but I can't drink grapefruite juice, because I am also taking albenza, a drug that slowly starves the mites (they can't convert sugar). So, take shower, then ivermectin--on an empty stomach. If you wanted to have high-fat meal right after, ok, but be sure stomach is empty when you take iver.
