Hi, my name is Sherry and my son Mason is one year old on the

thirteenth of this month. He was just in the hospital this week for 4

days with pnemonia. His neurosurgeon suggested to his pediatrician

that he may be aspirating when he eats causing him to have this

constant mucas and cough. Anyway to make a long story short he is

schedualed for an upper GI and a barium swallow on monday and i am

wondering if anyone here has had these tests done. Thanks in advance

for your help.

Yes, Dane had both done when he was a week old. It wasn't bad at

all. He was given the barium in a bottle. The doctor said if he

didn't like the taste of the barium that they could add a little

breastmilk.

The procedure didn't bother him at all. The only difficult thing

was that he had to have an empty stomach before they have him take

the barium.

It actually was really neat to watch!

I hope Mason does well. Good luck!
