Guest guest
If there was any question if we had bird mites before, that was put to rest yesterday when we found old nests and dead chicks (swallows - we think) in our roof venting. We removed all nesting we could find and sprayed the vents down with Ortho Home Defense. Then we installed barriers to keep out future nesters. One plan at this time is to take a job away from home, starve the blood suckers out while we're gone, and hopefully return to a mite-free home. How practical is this strategy? Should we bother to chemically treat the house before leaving? Our main concern is how to escape without bringing along hitchhikers, as these things hide up the nostrils and in the ears and eyes. Would Ivermectin take care of that even if they don't bite when up the nose? And we have cats who are also suffering. We're thinking that if we leave we'll board them at the vet until their mites are gone. All ideas are welcome and appreciated...
