Guest guest
- My daughter Grace wears a locally made helmet that she has had on for over one month now. It has been so funny because I have looked and looked to see other babies with them and while I know they are out there I myself have never run into any here. But the funny thing is that in over a month so many people come up to see Grace and no one has ever asked what the helmet is or made mention of it until today. A woman at the store asked to see her and then said "Oh she is wearing that helmet to help with her head rounding out isn't she." I was so taken aback because no one ever says anything. Turns out that her neice had to wear one and that her own daughter and her sisters daughter both had craniosyntesis and had to have surgery when they were about 3 weeks old to open the sutures. It was so nice to have a conversation with someone who knew about the things I have learned about (even though Grace does not have cranio). It was almost as good as seeing another baby with a band or helmet! But overall my experience has been wonderful people just comment on how beautiful she is which has over the weeks eased my nerves aobut being out in public and wondering what people are thinking about the helmet! -- and Grace

Wow, I'm glad to hear that you've seen other banded babies in the KC area. I know Mikey's not the only one (BTW, it wasn't me...) but I have yet to see another little one in a band. We went out to dinner Saturday night and a waitress came over and asked us if he'd had his ears worked on. Hmm... they are kind of out of alignment, so maybe I should have said yes... LOL It's funny the things people ask when we are out. Often people comment on the decorations and call him by name since I put his name on the front of his band. I finally took off the ant stickers (people loved them or hated them) and changed to tropical fish stickers. I posted some pictures of Mikey on the plagio web site. I think I put them under the Math Wiz. Take care all.... Debi and (STARBand 11/29/01)
