Oh Bob, you have done the right thing. It may hurt by getting rid of everything that you don't truly need, leaving only the items that you have very heart felt attachments to but it's better than doing what I have done. Big, big mistake on my part doing this in stages. If I had it to do over again everything would go at the same time. Now we are risking getting covered in the "things" as we clean out the basement next spring. We would do it now but we already have snow on the ground and in early spring our city offers a week where we can put anything out on the curb and it will be picked up. Yes.......the raid is strong....what we have here in our home is killed on contact by the raid. Good luck to all of us, looks like we will need all the luck in the world....plus some !!! Rita

Rita, is it possible to let in the fridgid winter air into your

basement and maybe freeze these your (now trash) belongings? They

may not die but at least that will slow them down or make them

inactive. Then a hauling service can be used to take those things

away. They are not cheap but may be worth it at the end.

I totally feel what you're saying about doing it in stages.

Although I've thrown my bed and matress out, I couldn't get myself

to toss out the sofa/couch and the rug. They were not cheap! But I

was having hope in that the dehumidifier will save them. I think

I'm pretty close to throwing them out, although I'd like to do one

more thing before they go bye bye. If someone could've said in the

very beginning, " if you throw out everything you have but I

guarantee your problem will be solved in a month " , having been what

I've been through (us all), I would've definitely elected to dump

everything in the beginning. But it's so hard to let go of some

things. As the days/weeks pass, I'm finding more and more things to

dump out. Down the trash chute they go! KLANK CLUNK BANG THUD.

I've always been a pack rat by habit but I've seriously thrown out

so much stuff over the last 3 months. A big life lesson I'm

learning is, don't put importance in material objects. It's not

like you can take them to the grave with ya anyway. I bet if I

lined up all the belongings I have, my bug fighting items take up

more space than my personal belongings!

We are grieving not only the trappings of our lives, but it feels

like our lives. I threw out everything my husband and I were willing

to part with immediately and I washed scrubbed, cleaned, speayed and

thought it would ALL be ok.

The difference between me and most of y'all is that I didn't have

YOU. Did I miss something or haven't we had a couple of folks show up

new in the group and actually get rid of the things? They read what

those already here wrote and learned from it, let go of everything at

once. They did what I am not sure I would have been able to do.

But you are right. It is necessary to ditch whatever we had before in

favor of all this easy to clean critter crap!

I'm saying that, because I'm mentally preparing to do all the way

what I have been piece-mealing too.

All that stuff in the garage that we use once a year, the platter I

use at Christmas, my gorgeous plate collection, my stuffed animals,

even though they are locked away from the ... I can't think about it

yet.

One of few things Scarlet said that I care to quote, " Tomorrow is

another day. " But it will be here soon...

Howdy KJ, Thanks for the support. I'm not giving up any hard surfaced

things yet. Just been working on " soft " stuff. I'm also still going

to fight for a few chairs and handmade rugs that my mom and

grandmother made. Nylar, nylar, nylar. My house has just been jam

packed with my mom's estate stuff and my own pack rat ways. I think

it's VERY important to do it all at once too. I've going on 6 months

here and I should have done it at least 4 months ago. I conquered my

fear of the " hot " spots this week and jumped in. I know how to get

the surface ones off me now when I hit a bad place. I feel you can

get these anytime your out in the real world, I know to jump into

protocol mode then, so I'm not going to be afraid of them anymore.

Did I miss a ESP update from you? Is the balm helping your scalp?

Are you keeping it on your scalp 24/7? I keep a thin layer there most

of the time.

I quickly realized that as received I could not afford to continue to

use the ESP in its original forms and thus it would be moot, so have

adapted it for my purposes. If my adaptations do not work, I will

assume it is the adaptations and not the ESP and then go for

(literally) broke.

Hair:

* Apply soap + ECP for an hour or two

* Lice comb thoroughly all directions, over and over

* Apply serum in a bit of Pink Oil to go farther

* Cover with wig cap

* Cover with wig (day) or kerchief (night)

Body:

* Shower in ECP (my normal shower)

* Apply soap generously, let sit 5 min or so

* Pat dry, leaving residue of soap

* Apply balm / Pink Oil / bit o sulphur / bit o mineral oil whipped

into a nice thick butter

* Dress for bed/work

As needed:

* Use lotion bar (which is WONDERful btw)

Shoes:

* ESP spray (it is not preventing bites and crawling so have

reverted to soaking my socks in insect repellent + Agrilabs Foot Rot

Spray (benzalchonium chloride weak mixture) + a bit of Epsom Salts

(not too much or can't get foot in socks as they are like concrete).

Now for your soft stuff you want to keep, Bobby,

Rather than doing a maintenance only Dustmite spray, since these are

specific objects you wish to sanitize and keep, you might want to

saturate them instead of just laying down the fine mist like I do on

my carpet, upholstered dining room bench seats, and (now) stucco in

the dog's sunroom.

nationalallergy.com

Remember it will take 8 weeks to kick in, and even then will not kill

walk-ins or drop-ons, but it will significantly reduce any that breed

in your soft stuff, and that is a huge sanity factor.

I will never be without it in all my soft stuff again.

love ya,

KJ

Re ESP I love the lotion in a bar for work where I am watched like a

hawk for anything " unusual. " The soap is great, I leave it in my hair

an hour or so, lice comb, rinse all out and dry (if have time), and

then put in the Pink Oil/ESP serum mixture, then a wig cap to absorb

it and hold it right on my skin overnight (then pop on a kerchief) or

through the workday (then pop on a wig). So I am using the soap as

directed, body too in shower, actually bathing first then putting the

soap on to sit then rinse or to sit then towel dry, leaving a residue

(last night, think I'll repeat, keeps more of the ESP oils on my

skin), then the balm and dress for work/bed.

Thx for asking, Bobby, I did need to document what I'm doing ...

KJ, Great documentation, as always! I had to transition into the ESP

also. Still do with my spice baths. I was hoping that you would get a

little scalp relief fairly fast. It took me two or three weeks with

the ESP to stop letting bits of my routine stuff go.

Spraying with Nylar today and just ordered the dustmite also.

Kicking bug arse!

Good move getting the Dustmite too.

It really notched the battle down to crazy from incredibly suicidally

insane. Made a big difference in my life and still does.

I'll keep you posted on the ESP. Hoping my adaptations do not

interfere too much with the effectiveness of the product, though they

may slow it down a bit. If not I will go see if the bank will loan me

some money against my critter cartoons :-)

I am so sorry about you and Ms. Piggy parting ways. I, too, parted

with my most prized possession -- my cotton meditation cushion that I

had used every day for almost 30 years. Now I use a polyester pillow

case filled with DE, wrapped in a plastic bag, as my meditation

cushion. I've had to adapt to my circumstances.

Mrs. Rita, what about a way to trick the things into hatching by providing some form of heat...like they hatch when they sense a change in temp and carbon dioxide...so maybe a repeated plan of warming the area(after it being cold a while) then spray,spray,spray....then repeat....let's find a way to trick them into hatching so they can be fried. FIRST, PUT ON ONE OF THOSE RAIN SUITS(HOMEDEPOT), RUBBER BOOTS(TAPED TO PANTS),RUBBER CHEMICAL GLOVES(WALMART BY THE PAINT STRIPPER), face respirator(homedepot) ALSO TAPED TO JACKET...homemade hazmat,lol....SERIOUS SKIN PROTECTION... Just a suggestion. take care, chasity> > > >> > > > Hi Trly......I haven't had much to say because we have reach > a dead > > > end .......again. Kihun,

Last night I talked to my neighbor who had a collembola infestation.

She is the person with the " stopskinmites " website. She told me that

the only furniture she dumped was her bed and mattress, and now she

sleeps on a blow-up air bed from Costco. She says it is very

comfortable. She salvaged her other furniture by treating everything

repeatedly with the Cedarcide. She told me she has a 55 gallon barrel

of Cedarcide in her garage. Depending on how precious your furniture

is, it may not be worth it to salvage it, since it may cost more to

de-bug it than to replace it. I think some furniture does not get

infested. I have a microfiber sofa that I kept. It seems to be okay.

I wanted to give Cedarcide one more try and I just bought 3 more

gallons of Best Yet (should've just bought 4, didn't realize at the

time that you get a discount from 4). That should be good for at

least 3 if not 4 fogging sessions in my condo. If they weren't so

dang expensive!!! $75/gallon and if you assume you'd need a gallon

for each session, it adds up real quick.

Your neighbor - I have read her website many times over from the

very beginning. Does she have a 55gal drum of Best Yet ($2750!) or

is it other cedarcide stuff? As she is a cedarcide reseller, I

guess spending that much isn't a big deal if she is also selling?

She swears by Arbonne body wash. Do you have any experiences with

Arbonne products? I'd like to stop buying everything I read. It's

getting to be a bad habit and it's putting a huge dent in my

finances too. I'm up to about $2500 spent so far (for those I

documented) just buying stuff for this.

So your neighbor had collembola and you live right next door and

have bird mite? Man, what is going on!!! This has got to stop for

us all.

has a 55 gallon barrel of the Best Yet. She is reselling it, so

it isn't a big deal to have that much. She doesn't live right next

door to me. I live in a condo, and she lives in a housing tract next

to our condo complex, so she's about 1/8 mile from me. I'm not sure

that she and I had the same type of bugs, but the Best Yet worked well

for both of us. When you treated your place with the Best Yet, did

you both spray and fog? I think that's important. You need to get

enough of the spray on your ceilings and walls, and I don't think the

fogger gets enough product on the ceilings and walls. The first time

I used it, I only had a sprayer, and I got pretty good results. I'm

planning on re-spraying my master bedroom this weekend because I want

to move back into it. I've been sleeping in the living room for the

past year. I kept my wooden bed frame. When I first moved out of the

bedroom, I put Citrawood furniture polish on the bed frame. So it sat

like that for a year. Last weekend, I steam cleaned the bed frame,

and I'll be spraying it with the Best Yet when I treat the room this

weekend. I haven't felt any bugs on it.

I did not try the Arbonne products because I couldn't afford them, and

was having pretty good results with the castile soap with tea tree

oil. Like you, I can't buy everything I hear about.

told me that her strategy has been to focus on her environmental

problem. She is still having run-ins with bugs in her home. On

Thanksgiving she reached into a seldom used cupboard, and got bugs on

her hand. She immediately washed her hand with dish soap, then put

peppermint oil on her skin. She is very paranoid about getting

reinfested. Also, she is a big proponent of Gold Bond Medicated Foot

Powder. She thinks it's fabulous for drying up the bugs. She had a

problem patch of skin on her back that had fungus growing on it, and

she put straight oregano oil on it, and it went away.

Hawaii is a pretty bug-infested place. People who aren't from here

may not realize that. Because of the year-round warm and humid

weather, we have lots of bugs. Most people who grew up on farms or

plantations know about " chicken lice " , which is what I had -- poultry

mites.
