Guest guest
Hi I am going to vent a little to prevent me from calling the insurance company in a ruckus. We were denied again for what Anthem BC/BS is calling investigational in all cases still. I convinced myself that this would be approved. At the same, we received a collection letter DEMANDING payment of a bill from where was in the NICU, and another collection letter from a credit card bill. I call this bad news Monday. is doing so well with his band, I hate to have to give it up because we can't pay. I feel so sad about this situation. I also feel sad because deserves much better then to see his parents stressed out over financial matters. What's even worse, is that we are to blame for our financial mess. I will appeal again but I feel so hopeless since they will deny it again for the same reason. I wrote to the credit card and told them my situation and I was hoping that they would work out an payment option. On top of all this..I received a speeding ticket the day we took down to Charlotte. I just wish something would work out. I apologize for venting but it was just a BAD NEWS MONDAY. s Mom to
Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such a bad day. Don't give up fighting your insurance!! We've had quite a few parents who eventually won the appeals process even after their child had graduated from the helmet/band. You are doing the right thing for , and don't let the denials cloud your vision of that! You are a wonderful mom doing a great job, and couldn't ask for more! Good luck , hang in there! If you have already had the helmut fitted, why give up? The company who made the band won't 'take it back' anyway right? Don't give up. I am in the same boat. We paid cash for elizabeth's band and am fighting a 2nd level appeal right now. I will take this before an independent medical review if necessary and if that doesn't work, I WILL get some help from an attorney. Guest guest
: Don't blame yourself for your financial situation. It's noone's fault that was born early & HAD to receive intensive care for so much time. You had no alternative for your son's life. Most of us have had bad financial times in our lives. Slowly work at what you can & you'll recover TRY not to let it get you down. It's only money, the important thing is that your son is healthy thanks to his great parents! As for the insurance, keep up with that appeal process. I know how you feel, it is so frustrating. Don't give up the fight. Guest guest
Oh what a frustrating Monday it was for you. Bad news Monday-was just that huh? Try calling Shriner's they may be able to help you with the cost of the band also if you call your State Dept. of Health they actually have funds out there for situation's like this and may be able to help you with coverage on the bands although to be honest with both of those groups I am not sure if you had to apply for the funding first or not- but it is worth a try. As far as your Nicu bills go-my recommendation there is to call the Hospital Administrator yourself and tell them that at this time you cant afford to pay this bill but if they are willing to accept $$$$ payment you can pay that at this time otherwise you will have to default on the payment. TRUST ME they would rather have some money then none. If you don't feel like calling then write a letter but send it to the administrator in addition to the collections people. When my sister had her baby she had to go to an out of network which was not covered long story short her bill was 7000.00 and I went to the hospital administrator and said I have 3100.00 in my checkbook I can pay you now and we can resolve this or you can try and collect 7000.00 from me which I don't and wont ever have-she took the 3000.00 and wrote the rest off. SO it is worth a try. KEEP APPEALING trust me -- it can pay off in the end. Best of luck to you here is to some brighter days ahead! beck
