I have. It works but slowly. You have to keep at it. I add 1 oz each of

lime and clove oils to it, and mix it at a higher ratio of 3 oz to a

gallon of water. I also do not add the baking soda. It does leave a

light white film that wipes easily off. It seems to be keeping my cars

clear.

Hi Bob,

How long do you leave the solution on your walls and floors before

wiping it off? Is it messy? How often does it need to applied? Thanks!

Howdy, I just leave it on. I don't usually wipe it off. With the

borax and baking soda both in it, it is messy. It's only slightly

messy with just the borax. It leaves run marks down my walls if I

apply it to heavy, but I know I am going to have to paint everything

again. I think it should be applied every week for a month, then

every other. It definately will change the smell of your home. It's

not an unpleasant smell but it hangs around. I do think it is

helping, but again it is not a fast, knockdown kill like Windex.

I hadn't been to the ESP website for a while. The new formula Trish

has for the environmental repellant looks incredible. And the price

of $17.98 seems very affordable for two gallons. I've been making my

own, whick is probably less effective with less of a mix, and have

spent a fortune on oils.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi Kihun: the group has been talking about using Nylar, an insect growth regulator, with a combination of other miticides in a spray. Have you used Nylar yet? I am going to order some when I get paid again. Also, did you receive your ivermectin and did it help you any?

Here's a post about Dustmite and Nylar, etc.

Mel

I used various knockdowns over the course of a few weeks and finally a combination of (1) bifenthren from Home Depot, (2) Nylar, ordered online from seeds, and (3) DustMite. I used bifen as the base liquid, half a gallon at a time, adding the other two according to pkg direx. Sprayed furniture, curtains, lampshades, walls, ceiling, carpets over the course of a couple of days. I taped plastic over the front of bookcases to protect books, sprayed pretty much everything else. Stayed elsewhere, with Cat, during spraying and while stuff was drying out (kept dehumidifiers running, of course).

Came home and slept on favorite sofa as a test. The 3rd night I got one bite, which didn't surprise me. I figured my body warmth would initiate a hatch but counted on Nylar and DustMite to prevent the newbies from living long and breeding. Nothing since. Have been spending a lot of time in big upholstered easy chair.

I wasn't going to write the group till more time had gone by; we all know about hope followed by despair. However, since you asked. . . .

I finished the treatment 5 weeks ago. I travel a lot and have been home and using the furniture for only about 10 days.

As some of you might remember, I went to live in an extended-stay inn for a few weeks. I had worked out the strategy from spending all spare time for weeks/months with this incredible group. (Earlier I had used Clorox and epsom salts several times and hated the mess; used gallons of Windex and felt it was just too unhealthy.) Through all of the time at the inn, thermostat set at 90 and dehumidifiers running.

menthol crystals on warmers in all rooms (that stuff goes fast!).

Three to four days between treatments below. Because I have a lot of stuff, I would do only one room or half a room at a time, so this took awhile. I would come home, put on boots, raincoat, and respirator, turn on the TV, and clump around in a horrible mood, sweating profusely, sure that nothing would work, trying to live a day at a time. Some days I just stayed in bed in the inn. You get the picture.

Heavy Cedarcide fog.

Rita's Raid on everything that could take it.

Repeat.

Bifen on everything.

Repeat.

Finally, the combo.

I used Nylar and DustMite last because I didn't want to put anything on top of them that might reduce their effectiveness.

Same system in car. Seems to be working.

I plan a Cedarcide fog in a few days and a repeat of the combo in a couple of weeks. Right now, the battle is nose and face, but that's another subject.

I am very fearful of re-infesting premises from myself. Will let y'all know what develops. When I think about the spirit and guts and savvy and smarts of this group, I just start tearing up. Without you I would never have had even this relief.

Hugs to all,

Hi, just wondering if anyone's ordered Trish's new environmental spray mix (the 2 bottles of essential oils you mix together). Or do you use a variant or a self-concocted formula that seems to be working on your body, home, and car? Thanks.
