Guest guest
Niki: I forgot that you have older children as well as the twins. Are we crazy or what???? It really makes for a fun house...when all is going well. I have to say that now that the twins are a bit older, we are gaining more of our freedoms back. It is easier to leave the house on time. Guest guest
Debbie: Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am happy to have in school, although it is very obvious how much influence friends are now having. We have some pretty tight rules about what the kids watch and listen to (absolutely no news, few cartoons, etc) and one day she came home singing a Brittany Spears song. I about fell over. She learned it on the bus. Brittany may be fine for older girls, but not my 6 year old. Just my opinion, but it opened a whole can of worms!!! And yes, I realized that OrthoAmerica makes the Starband, but I was referring to the local company who fronts it. It is called Orthodic Specialties and is in a city called Euclid. It is so nice to have another option. I think that is what frustrates us all the most (besides lack of information) is lack of options for treatment. Take care, Sue Cleveland Re: Nice to be back > Sue: > Wow, you sure are a busy woman! No wonder you haven't been around > much. We're happy to have you back . Guest guest
Debbie: I wasn't sure how to react at first. I was shocked, but when I listened to the words she was singing, it was a fun, catchy tune. I asked what she knew about Brittany and of course it was nothing. So we went to the computer and found a fan based web site and I showed her who Brittany was (luckily comes home from school while the other three are napping so we get some quiet time). I flatly explained that while Brittany was a pretty girl with a pretty voice, I didn't think that God appreciated some of the things she said or the way she danced. It was just not appropriate for little girls to see or hear. (Group, please don't get offended...my faith plays a big part in my life and at times like this it really comes in as powerful stuff for my kids!) That said, I told her if she liked that type of dance music I would find another singer that would be appropriate. (I emailed our youth pastor for suggestions!!) I have found that quickly addressing the topic and explaining our parental opinion has worked well with her. Some day I'll tell the story of when she learned ALL of the words that rhyme with Luck. Of course, on the bus. Wow, that was a conversation I wasn't prepared for!!!! Take care, Sue Cleveland Re: Nice to be back > > and one day she came home singing a Brittany Spears > song.
