Guest guest
Holly, I tell everyone when I'm at a family party NO HUGS! All my immediate family knows what's going on so they are fine. My cousins and extended family I just tell them something is making my skin sensitive and not to hug me. They all seem kewl with that. My mite load is light enough now so if I sit, I sit in a hard chair that I windex afterwards. I always shower and nuke my clothes just before I go. And I don't stay long, just enough to be social. Crazy what we have to do, huh.... I haven't figured out the present issue though. I don't want to bring anything that has been hanging out in my house to someones elses home. The few things I have bought are still out on the front porch. What to do, what to do... bob > > What is everyone doing for the Holidays? Are you going to be around > your families? Guest guest
I think im just going to have to say that im too sick. (I really am sick)I dont know these people very well. My immediate in-laws that i did tell, said i was telling " cock-a-mamy " bug stories. The party is two hours away, so we would be there for a long time. Last time we were around his family, they were all itchin. And they all want to hug me. I cant do it. > > > > What is everyone doing for the Holidays? Are you going to be around > > your families? Guest guest
i say go. it's okay. no one will get this from you. a brief hug is okay. don't worry and have a good time. it would be different if everyone was going to YOUR house, but they aren't, so no worries. mel From: Holly <hollyjane11@...>Subject: Holidays??bird mites Date: Monday, December 22, 2008, 10:18 PM What is everyone doing for the Holidays? Guest guest
Oh Holly, I really understand. I'm facing the same dilemma this year. Last month was my birthday, and my parents wanted me to come over for cake and silly stuff. I really didn't want to visit; but they were making me feel bad. I went...we're eating cake....I'm squirming and scratching...they question, " what's the matter? " .... I tell 'em there's about 20 tiny animals hopping 'round inside my clothes. They're all repulsed; seemingly in jest, " I hope you don't leave any of those! " . Well, Hells Bells!!! I warned them; they didn't believe and insisted, so I came. It's the same dadblasted thing every Thursday at my work, when I eat with my family (family business: Grandma comes on Thurs. to do the payroll, and we all eat together). At times the subject arises: my affliction. I'll remark that mites are presently playing their little games all over my body. My Uncle will look at me shocked, and say something daft about not letting them get on him. Remember back in the day, when there were Leper Colonies? hmmmmm..... maybe they're be Bird Mite colonies soon. I don't know about my Christmas dinner. Perhaps, I'll attend in a hazmat suit. joe > > > > > > What is everyone doing for the Holidays? Are you going to be > around > > > your families? Guest guest
My routine: [hack hack] " I think I'm coming down with a fresh cold, y'all, I don't want to give it to you so I'd better just stay over here, do you mind? Aw, y'all are so sweet. " [so they think I'm a hypochondriac; it works] Then if I have to hug anyone, I hug the air, you know, an almost hug. After all, there's that fresh cold, and they generally remember it just as they lean in for the hug, I see it in their eyes, then I can see the polite smile, the blink, and they pull back. Much better than what I had to deal with when I actually tried to tell them about it. It's like the military says in time of war: Do they have a need to know? And loose lips sink ships. Guess I'm the ship. Love to all, and to all a dead mite! KJ .... > > > > everyone wants to hug me. Ugh. Guest guest
Ok, I need to chime in here... I AM supposed to host Christmas Day at my house with about 30 people. Now, my kids and husband so far have not been affected my this mitemare. I am thinking my infestation is minimal?? I had alot of itching last night/this morning even after my borax/epsom salt bath last night. The night before it worked great. So I am really confused about what to do here. Really scared as well. Guest guest
the thing is that with these bugs nothing really makes sense. Thats why so many people dont believe us. We know what we feel, but we couldnt tell you what it is, or who it will affect or wont affect. How to get rid of them 100% is your own journey. We havent found that silver bullet yet. We are all here for eachother. We have good ideas, but nothing is 100% guaranteed. Including taking the risk of having people in your home. Just clean like a crazed french maid, and cross your fingers and hope for the best! PS Dont forget to spray the ceilings and ceiling fans, light fixtures, and the underside of the table, and chairs. As well as everything else that anyone will come into contact with. Might want to leave out some disinfecting wipes by the toilet, and periodically go and wipe it down. Good Luck! > > > > From: Holly <hollyjane11@> > > Subject: Holidays?? > > bird mites > > Date: Monday, December 22, 2008, 10:18 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > What is everyone doing for the Holidays? Guest guest
The failure you perceive may actually be success. If they are moving, you have disturbed them. Most that achieved success noticed an increase in activity and a "worsening" before success. Be careful about switching around your treatment methods too soon and too often. Because it is a parasite, you will be relegated to treat life cycles, of which there is no such thing as a quick cure. Cessation of activity will not stop all at once because of the lifecycle. Guest guest
During the holidays last year when we had this, we went to all the 'necessary' things like thanksgiving dinner and christmas day, but we opted out of many of the other family get togethers for fear of spreading what ever it was we had. When we did go, we avoided sitting on appolstered furniture, made sure we had treated our bodies as best we knew how, and wore clean baked clothes....avoided holding peoples babies....and tried to avoid hugs where possible..... do the best you can do, you need to get out and have some distraction. Nobody ever caught this from me, my hubby, or our kids. z
Guest guest
Oh Adam, that is so sad. I thought we would probably stay home alone but Neal agreed today to go to my nieces's for Christmas Day. I will say a special prayer for you. Sometimes being alone is better than being in a crowd anyway. Joan Re: Re: Holidays?? That blows. I'll be alone for holidays, with my critters.
