Guest guest
Thank you all for your helpful insight on how to handle this situation. I am just confused because I have never, ever seen a mite and don't know how to confirm that I even have them in first place. I know my symptoms sound like they are mites but I don't want to go full force at this since it seems very extreme until I am completely sure. I mean I searched every inch of my birds' cages, searched the bird room, window sills, cage liners, etc.. No mites to be found anywhere. I assume from the description that they would be visible. I even took a magnifying glass to look for them. My birds do not scratch or preen excessively either.I even went as far as using a special magnifier on my scalp and all I saw was very, very dry scaly skin with some red, irritated pimple type bumps beneath the skin. I made another appt. with my doc. in hopes that maybe she can shed some light on this. I don't know. I just want answers. Thank you all. I will keep you posted if it is determined to be bird mites.
