Hi, V,

Generally when I find that it is because they got between there for an

evening snack. I usually find a dot of blood close by, or on my PJs.

On the other hand, if you have a thick layer of DE betw your sheets and

the mattress cover, they may be dead.

BTW the Dustmite is CHEAP. You can probably do your whole house

(floors, carpet if any, pet bedding, curtains if any) with the small

bag of it (under $10 + shipping for a cup, which is enough to do my

whole house (carpets, furniture, pet bedding). Get the bigger bag if

you would like to spray your walls and ceilings with it. I'm going to

do that in about a week, I'm due for my biannual Dustmite+Nylar and I

think I'm going to add in the Suspend as well. If I can get to the DIY

pest control store I'm going to pick up the other ingredients someone

(Trly?) just mentioned. Boy, today and this whole week has been a blur.

Take care, V,

KJ

Howdy V, when I went hunting for them to show the exterminator, I had

black mites and the white larvae or nymphs on my sticky traps. So I

would consider them alive unless you did something to kill them.

Surrounding my bed in borax and spraying the mattress with windex

before bed helped alot. When they were that bad I washed my sheets

every day too. KJ's suggestion of DE under the sheets will be a big

help too. I'd often throw regular gold bond between the sheets too.

Just not near my pillow so I wouldn't be breathing it. Thanks for the

aloe suggestion. I'm going to drinking and wearing alot of it!

KJ, if your going to be doing a major environment attack, why don't

you use the onslaught Tim suggested instead of the suspend HC. I've

also used the pro control plus for a knockdown, on a room by room

need basis. I like to do my attacks around 5/6 pm which seems to be

the time when they bother me most, at least for my knockdowns.

FYI, Suspend is no longer approved for wide application? Its now just approved for spot treatment of doorways, etc.

Thanks for all the responses, folks. I do indeed put DE between the

plastic and bed sheets, so I guess the black spots are dead mites and

their disgusting litter. What blows me away is how many show up dead

on the bed, but I've never seen a live one anywhere.

omg, great idea. and Frito, I will take what you said about Suspend

under advisement since I do my own pest control.

Marguerite, I forgot to mention this to you.

Bobby,

That is another area where I love the disposable sheets (available in twin regular and long ). Not only do they cost less than laundry and save me hours and hours of work, plus they are large so tie up the washer for 24 hours while they soak, BUT they also are backed with plastic, which prevents the transmission of powder through the sheet when I turn or disturb things, as well as prevent the transmission of my scent.

I love the things and am about to order some more. I get the 96" length bec then the ends don't touch the lip of the platform on my twin bed. I get two boxes at a time, so I get 50 flat sheets for $80 including shipping, which is $1.60 per sheet.

Some nights (most) I sleep on top of one but bundle up to sleep so don't need a top sheet. Some nights I use a top sheet as well. Some folks stretch them by using them for two nights, but I am a rough sleeper so I generally tear up the synthetic fabric side and worry that it will be too easy to punch through the thin backing plastic if I reuse them, so I don't.

BTW I keep my pillow under the vellux blanket I keep covered top and bottom with a thick layer of DE+epsom+borax. Webshots photo album also shows my layers , designed to thwart critters that would crawl up from the floor. I now also keep a ring of the same mix all around the bed. If they aren't already on the frame, they aren't gonna live to get on it. Fortunately I seldom have airborne ones, though when I need to spray or vacuum I get some jumpers, probably fleas but not necessarily.

I also put a disposable sheet over any upholstered anything to prevent strike-through. I still have to deal with whatever comes off me, and though things had slowed yesterday, I guess I hit the ones at the next level of my dermis, because I have a ton of fiber critters coming out of my body today.

Hmmm....perhaps these are the unidentified " black specks " ? I had

tons of these come out of my skin about a year ago. The MRF had them

analyzed for dna about 15 months ago and the results

were " inconclusive " - now, that helps, huh???

I posted a link to a video a couple of weeks ago that showed that the

black specks, at least for the woman in the video, were actually

housing live bugs. Be careful how you dispose of those black specks.

Sorry, I don't have time to find that link again.

I also found the same thing with my own microscope samples. I remember watching one of those black specks melt into my skin like it was warm butter. I felt nothing, but away it went.

Here's your post, Myrtle, with the link to the video. Best wishes, Sue

I've noticed when I strip the bed for washing I find small, black

specks between the sheets and plastic mattress cover. Are these

dead mites?

This is what Tricia says is the biofilm and its very important to get it out. It will just keep multiplying otherwise.

It is easy to find. Go to Trish's homepage, press CTRL+End to get to

the bottom of the page quickly, and in a wide, shallow box you will

see the words Site Map. Click that and scroll down just a little bit

and you will find the Body Bugs video.

That is a more sure way to give the location than to include the link

itself. This way we can find it every time, whether we can find this

post or not.
