Guest guest
Lee Ann: That is terrific news! I am so happy they can fit you in next week already . From what I've been reading about Dr. Day - he's terrific, he should give you excellent advice. If you'd like a list of questions for the Dr., check out www.plagiocephaly.org then check out " questions for the Dr " (sorry I couldn't include the actual link). There are some very good questions to ask specialists & orthotists in there that might come in handy. I'm sure the Dr will address every question you mentioned in your post. The decision to band or not will be entirely up to you & your family. He might recommend it , but it is your decision to make. So if you would like to try more repositioning before deciding to band or not, then go for it! Best of luck next week, please be sure you let us know how the appt goes. Will Dr. Day be able to say right away whether his plagio is mild, moderate, severe? Will he evaluate him for torticollis? Are we early enough in the game to possibly try another 4 weeks of repositioning maybe? We will do the band if he needs it...no question. But of course we would like to avoid it if possible. We have some really crappy insurance (Cigna HMO...everyone groan now LOL!) and will have a huge fight on our hands to get them to pay. They really ought to watch out for me....I'll fight like a tiger for this...they have NO IDEA! > > Well, that is our great news. Guest guest
Hi Lee Ann, First, I want to say welcome to the group! I didn't get a chance to do that earlier...this board moves very quickly!! Second, that is awesome that you got an appointment so quickly! That was nuts having to wait until May to see the other doctor. And from what I have read earlier today, it sounds like he is a good guy! Usually the initial appointment with a neuro, and I'm assuming it'll be the same for you, they will take measurements and assess the plagio in regards to whether it is mild to moderate. My neuro also asked us about what kinds of milestones had the babies reached and what can they do, just to get a fuller picture as to what is going on. Good luck with your appointment. sure is a lucky guy to have such a wonderful advocate in his corner! Look out Cigna!! Guest guest
Thanks, Niki! Its great to know a good doc will look at the whole picture and not just the one problem, ya know? Waiting till May was nuts. But I would have done it if I had to. I'm just so thrilled and thankful to have gotten in with Dr. Day next week! Really such a blessing! Guest guest
Debbie ~ Thanks for the heads up about the list of questions for doctor! That will really help me! We probably will try another 4 weeks of re-positioning....IF Dr. Day says has a mild case. If its moderate or severe, we'll re-evaluate. And as long as the doc thinks it wont do any more harm, of course. So far we're doing a pretty good job of keeping him off his flat spot. I check his position several times during the night, since that is the time he seems to end up on it more. I will of course update after our appointment on Thursday! Thanks again!
