Guest guest
Leana, 14 months old is not too late!! While it is not the ideal time to start you could still see some good improvement. It might not be 100% correction, but you should get some! I would highly recommend looking for a dynamic band such as the DOCband or STARband as opposed to a passive helmet, but I do not think it is too late. I'm positive you will get some responses from people who started late that will be very encouraging to you. Good luck with the appointment next week and let us know what you find out! Guest guest
Leanna, My son Trevor just turned 3 and he went into his molding helmet at 13 1/2 months . He wore the helmet until he was 19 months and we got some correction but it was late. Today, his head is still flattened on one side and his ears are still misaligned and it does frustrate me because I brought this to my pediatrician's attention at 3, 6 and 9 months before finally demanding to see a neurosurgeon at 12 months. I think that with every child it's different and there are days when I don't see Trevor's misshaped head and other days that I definitely do. You are welcome to check out the pictures of Trevor under the photo section. He is in some of the pictures with my younger son Tucker who is now wearing a helmet (at almost 6 months) and has been in it for almost 2 and has had great correction! Best of luck to you and if I can answer any more questions, please let me know. Lori Mom to Trevor & Tucker in Michigan Is it too late? First of all I want to thank everybody who responded to my questions. My daughter Katerina is going to be 13 month old on February 14th. We just made an appointment with the craniofacial surgeon on February 19. I am sure Katerina will be at least 14 month old by the time the band or helmet will be ready for her to wear. Does anybody here have an expirience with older children (14-15 month old)? What are the results?I just hope it is not too late. It would be a disaster. Katerina's plagio is very noticable.Thank you,Leana. For more plagio info
Guest guest
Hello LC and welcome! It's not too late, but if you want to band you should act quickly. You might consider using a dynamic band like the STARband or DOCband considering the somewhat late start. We have a number of parents here who got started at 12 months and later and got good results - hopefully some of them will respond to your post. I'm sorry to hear that you have been put off by your doctors - that is a real shame. Repositioning is wonderful, but it doesn't work for every baby. I hope that you can get in to see the specialist very soon, but if you can't you can try getting on their cancellation list so you could get in a little earlier. If you let us know where you are located there may be someone in the group who could give you some more specific advice. Good luck and keep us posted!!
