Hi Shari and welcome to the group! Wow - you really do have a great ped - can

you clone him and send him to Oklahoma?! Ha, ha, ha! Good to hear that

Zachary is already in his helmet and adjusting well. Starting at 5 months you

should see great correction and probably really quickly too! Has Zachary been

receiving PT for his tort? There is another group called

torticolliskids that is a great resource for parents of babies with tort.

I'm pretty sure that we have several parents in the group who are receiving

treatment at the same place you are so you will all have something in common!

I'm looking forward to learning more about you and Zachary - it's great to

have you in the group!

I am a new member to the group, along with being a new Mommy!!!! I have a 5 month old son named Zachary. He is currently in a helmet and has been wearing it for 2 weeks now. His first update appoint. is this Friday. His ped. caught it very early and I love him for it!!!!!! Zachary had developed Tort. in utero, which caused him to constantly have his head on one side. He then of course developed plagio on the left side of his head. It was not really that bad, but you could see the difference when you look at the top of his head and looked down, you could notice that one of his ears were more forward then the other. We have been traveling into Boston, MA to the Children's Hospital for his helmet and so far everybody I have dealt with has been wonderful!!!

Zachary seems to be adjusting to the helmet better then the rest of us. It killed me to see him wearing it for the first time. Although I know it's for the best!!!!!

I am looking forward to reading all of your stories and advise!!!!!

Shari:

Welcome to our group! Happy you found us :-). You sure are lucky to

have such a wonderfully alert pediatrician. We finally hear of a

good pediatrician story (mine was great too!).

Most of us parents in the group had a hard time adjusting to seeing

our baby with a big hunk of plastic on top of their pretty head. I

cried for the first week or 2 after my daughter rec'd her band,

meanwhile, she went about her happy little life as usual not even

knowing the band was on her head :). It definitely gets easier with

each passing day. Soon, your son will look funny to you when his

helmet is off!

Zachary is at a perfect younger age to begin his helmet treatment.

You should see excellent & fast improvement. Is he wearing a locally

made helmet or a STARband?

Things seem to be rolling along nicely for you & Zachary.

So happy you found our group - we look forward to hearing of

Zachary's rounding head over the upcoming weeks. Be sure you keep us

updated.
