Guest guest
Hi, My daughter was wearing the band for almost one week without trouble. She was sleeping in it and adjusted wonderfully. Over the weekend, the band seemed to be slipping a little over one eyebrow. So, on Monday I brought her into the orthotist for evaluation. He said it was too loose and adjusted it. Well, that evening when we took it off, she had a blister-like red mark about an inch over her right ear. So, now she cannot wear the band or go for an adjustment until it is completely healed. 2 days later it still looks pretty bad. The funny thing is, I'm going crazy because she can't wear her band! I drove myself crazy that she needed to wear one and now I'm crazy she can't wear it. I feel like I am wasting time. Anybody ever have a blister-like sore? If yes, how long until it healed? I've been puting neusporin on it. I can't believe I am so upset she can't wear her band! Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Dina: Sorry about 's blister! Ouch! It sounds like your orthotist added too much pad to adjust for the looseness. My daughter never got a blister from her tight STARband but did get a horrible red mark from the band digging into her forehead which was bleeding. This was a result from too much padding being added after her final adjustment. Definitely keep the band off until the blister is completely healed. Then before you put it back on, go back for another adjustment, the orthotist most likely will shave some of the padding back out of the band that he had put in. Don't feel bad about keeping it off her. I know how you feel though. The important thing is to get rid of the blister, then go from there. Let us know how it goes.
