CT's and Cranio Diagnosis

Hi, My name is Kelli. For all you newbies in here, I

wanted to tell you a little of my story.

My little Em was given a Cat Scan at 8+ months old.

The CT read that she indeed DID have Synosis of both

left and rt Lamboidal Sutures. I was really freaked

out to say the least. After an appointment with a

specialist (who by the way didn't know to much about

infant plagio, ect...) who wanted us to have another

CT and more tests, we decided to hold off and start

with the DOC band, and if we hadn't seen results

within 4 weeks, we were going to pretty much fly

anywhere in the US for a professional that delt with

infants/plagio/cranio.

Well, everyone, I'm here to tell you, we just

graduated, after 4 months only in the band. We went

from 10 months to 14 months. So.... not only did I

have an older baby, but one that was diagnosed with

possible cranio!!!

I'm including my photo's again, so sorry everyone, if

you've seen them before, I appologize. I'll resend

with my next post.

I went with a gut instinct I had that she was okay,

just needed redirection with her growth, and I came

out okay.

Dear Kelli, Thankyou for your input. I am hoping Lauryn will not need any

surgery but, I am going to see what Dr. Billmire says first. I hope he says

lets just go with the band. HUGS,

It's that mommy intuition coming thru yet again :). Scary isn't it?

I'm so glad you were right & had terrific results.

That is the most important thing is to go with gut instinct. I am

glad that things worked out and that cranio was not found. Some

plagio can be interpreted as stenosis, but most of the time if the CT

is read by a qualified professional who deals with both plagio and

cranial there won't be an error. Please keep in mind that doctors are

indeed human and in the case of cranio it is best to get a second

opinion if your gut tells you things aren't right. Some times we

need to remind ourselves there is a difference between gut instinct

and mixed up emotions. Always always!!! If it just doesn't seem

right get more than one opinion!!!

Where you Kelli recieved a wrong diagnosis of cranio we have also had

mom's here that were told their babies had plagio and after months

apon months of unsuccessful banding found they were misdiagnosed and

did indeed have cranio. I am glad it worked out for you and your

daughter the way it did.

Hi . I'm so sorry for your misdiagnosis, and I

pray all is well for you and your little one now.

I too, was VERY scared, but I had gotten a little

shifting for the good the couple of months while I WAS

waiting for my insurance to decide. And I thought to

myself, if indeed she DID have stenosis, wouldn't she

continue to get worse?? and not better if however

slight? That's what had me questioning. I had

research cranio so VERY much on the net, and had seen

all sorts of head shapes, and to me, she wasn't even

close to be severe. I thought, with age, and a fused

suture or two, the growth would have had to go

somewhere, and made her head get worse in shape. I

had read in one of the reports where there were many

misdiagnosed babies that did indeed NOT need the

surgery, and that xrays sometimes showed, when the

plates of the suture are pressed together very

tightly, they showed a fusion... In my case, or

's, that was the outcome. I've never felt such a

complete lift off of my shoulders, the day I realized

that her band was indeed shifting her growth. I was

so very nervous about surgery. But.... If we had

indeed needed it??... I would have gone to Chicago, or

where ever needed, to Doctors that actually KNEW what

they were doing, and of course, had done the surgery

before several times with great outcome.

It's truely amazing the feeling I have for my baby. I

had NO clue how protective I would be about anyone

touching my baby, much less doing surgery on them. It

was bad enough I was in denial from 6 months to 8

months, and refused to have my baby seen for this

problem. I kept thinking, hey, I'm seeing results....

but by 8 months, I realized, oh boy, she's really not

correcting....sigh. Then at 10 months, we finally

banded. Now, if at 4 to 5 months, when I continually

voiced my concerns about her head, and he had told me,

okay do this, I would have started right away...

Those two months of waiting for insurance, I got

myself as educated as possible via net, printed tons

and tons of info, ect... By the time I got her band,

I felt no qualms, or fears, except that maybe it may

not work... I was totally happy to have it started.

NOW>.... lol, I have a bruised headed child....sigh,

yep, she's used to banging her little noggin, and is

just not starting to realize, that hey, this hurts,

I'd better treat my head better....lol.

So very sorry for my running on story....lol. Darn,

hey ... how's this??? lol

Your welcome . I just wanted to show you my

side. I know during my time of questioning, I wanted

so many different sides of view. I pray that your

little one doesn't have Cranio. But if your baby

does, let us all know and we'll all pray for you and

your beautiful little one.

Kel
