Hi everyone. I posted a few times quite a few months ago, and have

been reading the board on and off. My daughter just officially

graduated from her helmet yesterday. She has had her helmet since she

was 7 1/2 mos and she is now 12 1/2 mos (5mos). I was really good

about her wearing it for the first 3 months, but then her head growth

started to slow and we didn't see much progress. The last month or so

I just have been having her wear it at night. Our ortho said we could

have stopped a month or more ago, but she still has a slight very

very slight flat spot on the back of her head. Since the helmet

didn't really bother her and she hadn't totally outgrown it, we

continued on. My daughter had moderate bracho, and her head looks

great now. Like I said, just a little tiny flat spot in the back but

I don't think anyone can notice it except for me. With her hair it is

completely unoticible even by me. We just had our final apt with her

Pediatric Plastic Surgeon, and he says it looks great and no need to

continue on. He thinks the small little flat area will round out as

her head continues to grow. He can't guarantee that, but he thinks it

will. I am so happy I decided to put a helmet on . I have

absolutely no regrets. If I chose not to do it and her head didn't

round out on its own, then I would have been regretful.

For those of you new mommies who have just put the helmet or band on

your babies...I know its shocking to see your baby with it on at

first, but believe me you totally get used to it and it becomes

second nature. The time goes by so fast, and then your baby has a

normal head. I have a friend of mine who chose not to band her

current 13 month old. She regrets the decision now because now she

feels it is too late and her son has not rounded out at all. I hope

his head does round out as time goes on. It may. But, I know for sure

that no one is going to tease my daughter about her head.

Anyway..just wanted to give all of you an update and thank all of you

for your support and wisdom over the last 5 months. I knew nothing

about plagio when I first posted on this message board. I know so

much now because of all the terrific moms and dads on this board.

Keep it up.

Thanks Again,

CATHY

:

Congradulations to . It sounds like she had terrific

results :). Thanks for the encouraging words to all our new

members.

I also wanted to mention to you about your friend's 13 mos old with

some flatness. It's not too late if she still would consider banding

her child. My daughter began her DOCband at 11.5 mos with severe

plagio & we still saw good correction. Has she looked into still

getting a band?

Thanks for your great news...congrads again :)
