Guest guest
Hi! friends at , Project Concern International (India) Care and support program implements Home Based Care (HBC)project in Maharashtra and Tamilnadu. The project 'PATHWAY' Positive Action for the health of People Living with HIV/AIDS) in Pune has been implemented with invaluable partnership with NMP+ and Sevadham Trust. Whereas, the Salem Project works with local NGO and the SNP+ (Salem Network of Positive People). May I request members of Group to kindly let me know of other models of HBC in India (and) global HBC initiative. It will be worthwhile to share experiences and lessons learnt as we work together to create positive changes. Guest guest
Dear FORUM, This is in response to Dr. Thangsing's posting on Home based AIDS care models. Up until now, i had been a not so vocal participant on this FORUM. But your need surely needs answering. I was in India in particular New Delhi, in 2001-up to June 2003 and during that time had the privilege of volunteering with Sahara Rehabilitation Center where 's Care home is a part of the organization. Anyway, while I was there I left a photocopied hard copy of " GABAY " (in our language which is Filipino, it means guide). It is a manual on homecaregiving for people living with HIV/AIDS. The manual sees the caregiver as an educator, a nursing caregiver, a facilitator, and as a support person in many areas. Thus there are sections to answer all these roles that the caregiver assumes. Of course, the part where herbal medicines are used for the more common signs and syptoms that the PLHAs experience are based in the Philippine setting. I also left a copy with them on how to establish an HIV/AIDS Education Prevention Program in the Workplace using the peer education and counseling technique using modules. The modules include values education, sex, sexuality and gender, basic hiv/aids education module and a counseling technique module. All in a vey user friendly form. I hope you can access these materials. The homecaregiver guide was a joint project of UNDP and the Department of Health here in the Philippines and the Workplace Program modules were a project of the European Union, the Department of Labor and Employment and the Departnment of Health. Hope they help. by the way,the contact person there is Dr. Deep if he is still there.
