Guest guest
I feel guilty using this board as a parenting sound-out, but I swear as soon as I have something CONSTRUCTIVE to say I will contribute more. ;-) Okay, Gavin has been coughing for nearly two weeks now. I begin to suspect allergies. Do they test babies that young (14 months)? I have a codependent cat and a dog who is nearly as bad (the cat won't eat if both DH and I are out of town). Not much I can do about dust. I can de-allergize the animals if I need to (I'm a former veterinary tech) but I don't want to go through with it if there is some mysterious baby thing going around anyway. No fever, he's cheerful except when he coughs and it hurts his tummy muscles because he coughs HARD! Oh, BTW, Tommy is doing much better, thanks for asking (was it Marci?). No more shivers, he's just as ornery as ever. Before anyone can ask, to deallergize a cat or dog you dump distilled water once a week and soak the animal. It cuts about 60% of the dander-(it's actually saliva from the animals licking their skin). Jill Ramos, Las Vegas, NV P.S. Tommy's tort is nearly resolved and I don't have to stretch him any more (like he lets me)
Guest guest
Jill, Good news about Tommy's tort being resolved! At least you have that one off your plate! Does Gavin's cough sound like a barking seal, as they say, for I think whooping cough? Or is that the croup? Anyone know? Good luck, hope it gets easier and Gavin's cough starts to clear up! Guest guest
Jill, I don't thing they will do allergy testing that young and they are hesitate to prescribe allergy medication before two years of age. We convinced our ped to let us try allergy meds at 22 months because had the runny nose and cough literally 100% of the time despite the tubes (no ear infections, but still snot and coughing!!!). We are using zyrtec and it has made all the difference. I know that they CAN prescribe allergy meds younger then 24 months, but apparently it doesn't happen very often. I think I'm going to try and deallergize our dogs this weekend - that sounds like a really good idea! Thanks for the tip. Guest guest
Jill: I've been coughing for weeks, and sniffles too. I don't feel sick at all tho! Maybe it's the newest bug going around?????
