Guest guest
, I am soo sorry that your DR.s were so miss informed about plagio. because Kayleigh is 19 months, are they going to do surgery to try and un flatten her head? Or can they give her a helmet at this age? You know what, I wish that one day somebody would sue their Dr. for malpractice, because it didn't round out! I would have to say her plagio (from what I can see in the pics) is maybe inbetween moderate and severe. It is hard to tell from some of the pictures, and it might also be the angle they were taken. Keep us posted on what happens at the Neuro apt. and good luck! Kayleigh is a beautiful little girl! Anne mom of Livia DOC grad 12/01 Canada A question and a favor As you all know or don't know - we fought with peds and docs for months and months and they always told us Kayleigh's head would round out - now at 19 months - we finally get to see a neuro surgeon on Monday. I am so anxious.Anyways - I put together a little website that shows her plagio at different stages - starting at 5 months as her plagio started between 3-6 weeks, but I dont have pics of it - cause most pics were cute close ups of her face LOL.Anyways - if you guys could check it out and tell me what you think - if her plagio is mild or moderate....and if it was bad enough that the docs should sent me earlier to a neuro.I also gathered all these pics to take to the neuro too to show him. Now that she has haid - it is less noticeable - but still very much there. It has barely improved if it has improved at all. With hair -if you catch her at the right angle it looks like a piece of her lower - right hand side back of her head was sawed right off.http://www.parksolutions.com/plagioAnyways - thanks for looking guys and I can't wait to hear what you have to say.- in CanadaFor more plagio info
Guest guest
, Well I just took a look and I think Kayleigh is an absolute doll! She is just precious - what a great litlte grin! I can be honest and say that I have seen kids with worse headshapes then hers. It's hard to make a comparison between the younger pictures and older because the younger pictures were not taken specifically to examine headshape. However, it appears that she has made some improvement over the months. Her head looks to be between mild and moderate. I don't notice any obvious facial assymetry and that's a good thing. I'm sorry you got such a run around by your doctors. That is such a shame, but you are doing all that you can and your are to be commended. You are a good mommy. Good luck with the neuro on Monday - my thoughts will be with you. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
, First of all, I want to tell you that Kayleigh is beautiful!! She is so sweet. A lot of her pics look like my son -- the head shape, that is!! He had mild/moderate plagio to his back right side (left sided tort). He was diagnosed at 5 mos. and banded at 7 mos. He is still in his helmet therapy (StarBand), it was 5 mos. yesterday. He will turn 1 year old on this Friday. His orthotist said he did not anticipate him to graduate before his first birthday -- so I'm not sure how much longer it will be. I feel that her plagio would be considered mild/moderate, as my sons was. She probably should have been sent to a neuro earlier -- but don't blame yourself -- I know what you mean by the peds and even 's neuro (on his first visit) saying his head would "round out on its own". We got the same thing!! What is up with them?!?! It is very much less noticable since her hair has grown in. Anyway, good luck at your next appt. with the neuro - let us know what he says.
