Guest guest
LeAnn, My son is the same age as your daughter and we are at the same place you are in the process. I live in Seattle, WA and our only local option is a helmet. I wish we could go DOC band or even STARband. Like you, we thought the rounding would happen on its own (as our ped. kept telling us too). I too felt overwhelmed but this is a fixable thing (not to make light of it), but as my husband pointed out some of the other children at our Children's Hospital with severe problems, it helped me to put things into perspective. It's still very tough to have our children have even the slightest thing wrong I know. My son was on oxygen for 4 days when he was born and had to have kidney surgery when he was 3 months old. We are so grateful that he's doing well now. The helmet will be just another story we can tell him about when he gets older. (I guess). Anyhow, keep on having fun with your little sweetie. Let everyone know how things are going with the STARband. mommy to Preston > I have decided to try the STAR band first because it is closer to us. The DOC band clinic is 4 hours away in Atlanta. I am in the Savannah, GA area. I do hope that we do not have the same results as you did. I am sorry that you had to go through that ordeal. I work and cannot imagine making weekly trips to Atlanta. I know most of you have had to do it and I admire you, but for me right now, it is not the way to go. Does anyone have experience with Savannah or heard anything? If the CT clinic were closer, I would definitely use them. The trip is an issue for us. Abby has flattening on her right side. She is 5 months old and an absolute sweetie. We are in the process of getting a MRI done, PT setup for tort, and the band. This all has been overwhelming to me. I just thought her head would round out on its own, but it has not happened. So that's where we are in the process. > > LeAnn, Springfield, GA
