Disparity in ARV distribution

Maisnam Pushpakanta

Sagolband, Wahengbam Leikai, Imphal

A month ago, many heard about the issuing of ARV drug to those

infected person upon findings some criteria so as to go for the ART

treatment at free of cost which was initiated by Ministry of Health,

Government of India through RIMS, Manipur from the news report

appeared in local newspaper and electronic media. Mention can be made

that it was not at all a fair and nice launching for the said

programmed, as it seems to be done only to some few close people

ignoring the rest who are at risk. No matter what, all are aware of

this very sad news at present.

Further, with the body name NGOs Federation together with Manipur

State AIDS Control Society (MACS) and the Medical superintendent,

RIMS has come out with a fine solution regarding the distribution of

ARVs drug in a fair way.

Moreover, the exact number of this particular drug for those who are

HIV +ve is not yet confirmed, as it was 300 in the first phase

according to the announcement and it only turn out to be 220-225 from

reliable sources. So far how many are getting the drug and how many

are on the way to get it is still confusing.

So my question to this particular issue is who are going to take the

risk when some unforeseen situation comes out of it and will it be

wrong to give the update information to the general public at large

or is it necessarily to be done as it is now.

My opinion to this very issue is better let know to others when the

service is doing for the welfare of our society rather to play the

game of hide and seek.

Any individual who thinks as a responsible citizen and have

sacrificing and dedication spirit regarding the above mention issue

may kindly suggest any effective feedback for the smooth distribution

of these drugs to the needy person without any partiality.
