Guest guest
Well Beck it has been such a learning period for myself and my husband. In New Zealand the only form of treatment used now (a type of helment similar to yours use to be used)is repositioning.I have now been in contact with a woman who has developed a device called a saftey sleep, she did not originally design it for treatment of plagiocepgaly children(but more for use for holding babies in place when on boats, campervans,on single beds, when you went somewhere were there was no cot available to you)However due to the amount of parents that have come to her to use her divice to help reposition their plagiocephaly babies it has now become her crusade in life to help with this problem. In New Zealand the phrase " Back is Best " is uttered from every health professional dealing with babies. However there is a fast growing movement trying to stamp this out.But to get any of the so called health professionals to listen is most difficult (I myself am a registered nurse and have lost faith in the medical profession)There is one country in the world that has slept their babies on their backs for years and that is Japan, however they have also used head rings under their head to avoid this problem. There is a clinic in a major hospital in Auckland that deals only with babies with this problem, that clinic is over flowing with patients with a problem that is so easily preventable it just makes me cry in frustration.Anyway that about sums up my thoughts for the moment.I guess we just have to sit tight for awhile. Thanks for listening, mum to Ben(New Zealand)

I wasn't aware either that Japan has slept babies on their back only for so long. Hmmm, I wonder if there's any type of info about these rings anywhere, or if they're available to anyone. Guest guest
, Thanks for the update and sorry about the frustration you have been going through. That was very interesting information about babies in Japan - I did not know that. Good luck with the repositioning and please keep us posted. Guest guest
it is so frustrating to hear your frustration. I understand your losing faith with the medical field I have been there. You sound like you are doing a really good job though and doing all that you can. I would be interested to see the product you are referring to-does this lady have a web site. If you are interested or need it I could always order some of the devices here in the US for you and mail them to you for repositioning. But I am hopeful the repositioning helmet will be effective. Please keep us up to date we will be thinking of you. I wonder how we could get to see the Japanese ring for the head- I am so curious!
