Guest guest
My guess is that HCl production in gastric juices is low. A number of minerals and a couple vitamins require acid to work on them in order for them be to absorbed. Just because something is supposed to be in the pill does not mean that if taken, the body will be able to use it. I guess your experience supports that. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=3\ 770372 & dopt=Abstract http://www.diet-and-health.net/articles.php?cont=hydrochloric%20acid%20HCl -jim > > Hi Rich/All > > Funny that you should mention a folate deficiency with my burning > feet. Guest guest
Hi, Janet. You may have what's called a " folate trap. " This can be caused by having genetic variations (polymorphisms or SNPs) in genes that code for enzymes in the folate metabolism, so that your body is not able to convert from one form to another very readily. Adding FolaPro seems like a good idea. Maybe if you get tested again, it will come out O.K. this time. If FolaPro helps and Folacal did not, I would suspect a genetic variation in the gene that codes for the enzyme MTHFR (methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase). Maybe you are homozygous for an MTHFR polymorphism. I don't recall whether you are getting the Yasko genetic variations panel, but if so, it would tell you whether you have a polymorphism there. > > Hi Rich/All > > Funny that you should mention a folate deficiency with my burning > feet. Guest guest
Hi Janet, This is just to let you know that burning feet is a specific symptom of my babesiosis, though I have a normal folate rate. I know other babesiosed people with burning feet. This symptom is improved with anti-paludean meds. Babesiosis makes red blood cells burst, has this any relation with a low folate rate (which is an anemia)? I used to have a fluctuating iron rate (very high or very low), probably related to babesiosis too. Sylvie (quite sick but hoping what I wrote makes a sense...)
