Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've posted recently about having thyroid problems, visiting the Lahey Clinic in MA, and finding out that I have, in addition to CFIDS " silent thyroiditis " . Because I also have a nodule and a history of radiation to the neck area, the doctor is going to perform a fine needle biopsy on me the 29th of this month to check for cancer. In the meantime, he's treating the thyroid inflammation with 50 mcg's of Levoxyl. He told me it would take several weeks to start seeing any effect. Well, I feel much worse, extremely anxious, edgy, with marked cognitive dysfunction. I'm unable to comprehend what I read or retain much, for that matter. I know anxiety plays a role in that, but I seem to have really crashed, with no energy to do anything physical or mental. I've never been checked for adrenal fatigue, and I believe I read somewhere that treating the thyroid without recognizing the underlying hypoadrenia can cause problems, but I'm not sure. I called the doctor about these symptoms, and he had me cut the dosage in half for a week, but this has not helped. Has anyone gone through an episode this bad? If so, how did you get through it? Would you recommend any supplements in particular for this. I know if I could run it would help the anxiety, but this is not possible with this condition. I force myself to walk the dog twice a day but only for a very short period. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance, Janice
Guest guest
I would not continue putting any pharmaceutical in my body that had such ongoing bad effects. There is usually more than one way to skin a cat. And doctors are, never forget, only practicing. On you. I especially would not trust a specialist who is not experienced with our disorder. Just my opinion. Adrienne Brain Fog bigtime -- CFIDS + Hypothyroidism.....anyone experience this? Sorry, but it seems to me that that's pretty much what everyone here experiences. Exceptions, of course, but I know that sounds like exactly what happened to me. I've tried to take thyroid medication like half a dozen times, and that's what happens each time. I even cut the dose down to like 6~10 mcg and it still happens. Now, I take a little piece every once in a while and just leave it at that. To everybody, what are the 'standard' supplements/treatments? A lot of people are trying 'true whey' http://vitanetonline.com/forums/1/Thread/866 , or 'renew pro', which came out first and looks to be the same thing, but is more expensive.
