Guest guest
Beck, Thanks for inquiring about Jessie. She has been in her DOC band 1 week and 3 days and is finally getting to wear it all day today. The redness is gone today and her skin looks great. She had developed a small red spot on her forhead when she first got the band. They made adjustments but we still had to take the band off every 3-4 hrs. to check for redness. We often ended up leaving it off several hrs. til the red faded and some days up to 7 hrs. or even overnight. It was frustrating cuz I wanted her in the band as much as possible but I figured any time in was better than none and we certainly didn't want skin breakage! Anyways, the small red went away completely and then she developed what the therapist called a friction rub. It was a lot larger and not as bright red. The therapist told us she felt this was due to the velcro closure being closed too tight. We thought we were really being careful when we closed it to not apply any tension what so ever, so I had the therapist show me where she thought the closure should come to to avoid any tension. Since we've been careful to put it at that point ever since, we have noticed the friction area has faded and like I said finally today she's been able to have the band on all day with no redness. I still do checks every 3-4 hrs. I hope that is helpful to anyone else who might be having problems with friction rub areas. As to Jessie's tolerance of the band, she is doing wonderfully! She seems the same as before she wore the band; no more or less fussy. Now we will sit back, pray and hope for some rounding. We know we have done what we can. My prayers remain with all of you for success in treatment and peace of mind. Theresa mom to Jessie
Guest guest
Theresa- Are you from south of Youngstown? If so, we've met twice at Straight Ahead. Dane was banded 2/14. He has an airplane on his band. Dane's mom > Beck, Thanks for inquiring about Jessie. She has been in her DOC band 1 week > and 3 days and is finally getting to wear it all day today. Guest guest
Theresa: It sounds like things are going quite well thus far I'm glad Jessie has adjusted w/o any problems. And it sounds like you've gotten some of the common kinks taken care of and have gotten the perfect fit. I'm sure you'll start seeing some improvement soon. Keep us updated. Guest guest
Hi ! Yes, that's us! I remember you and Dane and the awesome helmet. Hope to see you again @ Straight Ahead. We may or may not be there this Saturday. Depends on if Jessie gets anymore redness. Hopefully not. But we'll definitely be there the following Saturday. Where are you guys from? We're actually in New Springfield. It's a little country town about 10 miles south of Youngstown. Take care, Theresa and Jessie
