STARscanner at Stanford

Rehab Engineering has had a STARscanner for a month and we are very

impressed with the quality of the STARbands made with the computer

aided manufacturing process and the data available for interpretation.

We are able to scan very young babies and compare subsequent scans to

determine the effectiveness of positioning and progression or

improvement of the plagiocephaly. The scanner has helped verify the

accuracy of our previous method of measuring and evaluating the shape

of the head.

We are able to provide insurers with objective evidence that might

help with authorizations and justifications. Our physicians at the

cranial anomalies clinic at Lucile Salter Packard Childrens Hospital

appreciate the three dimentional image because " it's better than a

polaroid. "
