Guest guest
Michele Well congrats on getting Rileys helmet! My daughter Mya took well to her DOC band quickly too. I was so relieved. As for the rude comments. Well we have only had her band for 4 days but so far we havent gotten any kind of comment at all. People have looked but we really havent even gotten any stares yet. Im sure as time goes by there will be someone that will have something rude to say. Im not quite sure how I will deal with it or what I will say. But good luck to you. And congrats on the new helmet! We'd love to see some pics of him. What can I say, we're from Boston and we did just win the Superbowl. Anyway, just as everyone said, he has adjusted very easily to wearing it. the Orthotist told us to wean him into it, but he hardly seemed to notice it, so we put him to sleep in it the first night and he did fine. After 2 days I swear his head is already rounder!! Our next step will be going out in public and dealing with questions and funny looks. Any suggestions on witty comebacks to rude comments that I'm sure will come? > > We go back in 2 weeks for an adjustment...so far so good! As for the Head Pickers...I think my husband is a member. He just looked at the cover of the new " Good Housekeeping " and decided that Faith Hill has one eye higher than the other...Not back company, if you ask me! > > We'll keep everyone posted. Guest guest
Hi Michele: Well things definitely sound to be going terrific already. I'm so happy to hear Riley has adjusted w/o any problems & is already sleeping in it! He'll have a rounder head in no time. The Patriots logo sounds very cute, we're big NFL fans too but there was no way I'd decorate my Abby's band with anything showing we are Detroit Lions fans! I didnt' want any addt'l strange looks, hehe . As for your fear of strange looks and/or comments, yeah, you'll get the looks, whispers, double takes & unfortunately the rude comments, although I didn't get many mean comments. Do whatever feels naturally to you, when someone would ask what it was for, I'd simply tell them the truth, to round out her pretty head. Remember, you would probably stare too if you didn't know what the band was for, it's human nature. After a few trips out, you probably won't notice the stares any longer, I didn't. Good luck though, it was very stressful for me - but on my first trip out with Abby in her band, I ran into another banded baby!!! I couldn't beleive it! We talked & talked. It was such a relief. Let us know how things progress!
