I'm so sorry you're unhappy with your son's helmet. A lot of our

member's baby has worn a helmet that sound similiar to the one your

son has. If it is cutting into the back of his ears as you describe,

then it most likely needs an adjustment made to it, probably could

use a good trim in that area. It is very hard for most of us parents

to first see their baby wearing their helmets or bands. I also was

very upset for the first week or 2 of my daughter wearing hers. I

cried & felt so guilty. After the first week though, I felt much

better & was used to seeing her in it. Remember, this is not hurting

your son at all, you're doing the right thing by putting him in this

helmet. I hope you feel better about it soon. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed with your son's helmet :(. Many of

our group members have had their child in a locally made helmet which

sounds similar to the one your son has. It is very hard for many

parents to adjust to seeing their child in a helmet or band. I had a

terrible time seeing my Abby in her band. I cried often for the

first week or 2. You will slowly adjust to seeing your son wear this

hunk of plastic & it won't bother you. Trust me....it gets easier

every day. You're doing what's best for him - please keep telling

yourself that.

I forgot to mention in my earlier reply, that if the helmet

is " cutting " into his ears or anywhere else, it could need an

adjustment made to it. Keep a close eye on it & call the orthotist

if it is in fact digging into him at all.
