Guest guest
Hi everyone. I'm new here, as, just yesterday I was told my 16 month old son has Deformational Plagiocephaly (he had torticollis when one month old). I had asked my pediatrician at " every " well baby visit about my sons misshappen head and was told " it will correct itself " . Well, it hasn't - and now that it may be to late, he was sent to a specialist. The specialist yesterday said my son is really to old to have good results with a helmet.........so, they suggest doing nothing right now and see if it corrects itself over time. (He's assured me the condition will not worsen) They went on to say if it doesn't correct, and it really bothers my son as a teenager, they could do plastic surgery then! We're lucky his plagiocephaly is very, very subtle.....but it's definately there. Has anyone heard if I try now to sleep my son on the " non-flat " side of his head, would it help - or is it to late for that? (I didn't think to ask the doctor yesterday). Any advice/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.
