Guest guest
Well I got Madisons rx for her band. He told me that I should look around at other helmets. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which helmet they think that I should go with. He also said to be ready to fight my insurance company. Should I go ahead and make my appt with Cranial Tech or do I need to wait for my insurance company? She is already 8 months old. He wasnt really that full of information. I must say I am feeling a little overwhelmed. So glad that I found this site. Celeste, Phoenix, Arizona
Guest guest
Hi again Celeste: What insurance company do you have? I would suggest looking thru your policy to see what coverages you do or do not have. Then give them a call to see what they say about corrective molding devices to treat plagiocephaly. Many, many of our group members are still appealing with their ins. to get their child's band covered. It is such a shame that many companies do deny these needed bands. If they do deny coverage, appeal & appeal & appeal. Don't fight. Check out www.plagiocephaly.org for MANY useful tips for insurance fights, and just a lot of helpful plagio information. You live in Phoenix so you must be near Cranial Technologies' home office. That's terrific. Cranial Tech is absolutely wonderful. Have you been to their website? That's www.cranialtech.com . Cranial Tech will go ahead with banding your daughter w/o insurance approval, but I'm sure they'll need you to sign paperwork saying you'll pay for the band if your ins. denies, etc.. My daughter had great success in her DOCband with severe plagio & didn't begin treatment until she was 11.5 mos old.. They really are experts in treating plagio.. Thanks for letting us know how your appt went. Please keep us updated on your decision & insurance. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Well I got Madisons rx for her band. Guest guest
Celeste, You should start with your insurance company and find out if there is a band or helmet that is covered as in-network. If they do cover the band then you will get the most compensation if you use an in-network provider. If you do not have insurance that does not use a specific network then you should be able to go to the provider of your choice. Cranial Tech is probably the best known and it is unlikely that you would go wrong with them. You might give them a call and tell them what insurance you have. They might be able to tell you if that company has ever covered the band or not. I know that this must be very stressful and overwhelming, but hang in there. Getting the RX is the first step and the decision to band is one of the hardest parts! Let us know if there is anything we can help you with and keep us posted!
