Guest guest
" I also reacted poorly to St 's Wort. I have some P450 problems that may be related to that (my cytochrome 2D6 is mutated, which caused real problems with some SSRIs that are cleared by that enzyme). " thanks for sharing that kurt as i too get reactions from St s wort (an eposide of rapid mood cycling..and seritonon syndrome symptoms, had to be taken to hospital in ambulance) and I react negatively to SSRI's too.. so I think I may have a similar problem. " If a > person has an overdose effect from a regular dose of benedryl, they > have a problem with a liver enzyme called P450 2D6. " Ive never tried to take benedryl so dont know how I'd react to it. By overdose effects..do You mean it would probably just make one sleep?? or would one with this problem likely to get other bad effects??? Guest guest
No sudafed and benadryl are quite different. mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) Posted by: " Rosie " _rosiecox@... _ (mailto:rosiecox@...?Subject= Re:%20CFS,%20psychotropic%20meds%20and%20withdrawl%20..%20Kirt) _octrosie20 _ (octrosie20) Sun Nov 12, 2006 3:21 am (PST) Hi there, Is Benadryl the same thing as found in Sudafed and such like - cough/throat medicines? If so I am mega affected by those, almost indescribably affected by even an 'enth' of a single SSRI, could not take St s Wort. Does it follow therefore that I would have this same liver enzyme deficiency, and if so can anything be done about it, and would it improve health generally if something were done about it? Guest guest
Sudafed has suphedrene in it which is one of the ingredients that goes into illegal methamphetamine. So it is a stimulant, I would suppose. Benadryl, on the other hand is used by a lot of people for sleep, although there are a few who get 'amped up' on it. Sudafed is a decongestant and Benadryl is an antihistamine. Personally, I can't take stimulants myself, but I take an antihistamine, benadryl (generic) sometimes three times a week for sleep. Actual, I usually take generic chlortimetron (sp). Mike C (if u take benedryl during the day, it may make u sleepy) In , " Rosie " <rosiecox@...> wrote: > > Hi there, > > Is Benadryl the same thing as found in Sudafed and such like - > cough/throat medicines? However, many SSRI meds DO use this, as well as Benedryl. So if you react to even tiny doses of an SSRI, then definitely I would suspect a liver enzyme problem, possibly 2D6. No, there is no treatment for this, but you can learn which drugs must be avoided or used in only very tiny doses. The detoxigenomics profile by Gennovations might be helpful. Here is a basic table. Find the drugs you react to, if they are all in the same column, then probably you shouuld avoid ALL drugs in that column as all are metabolized by the same enzyme. http://medicine.iupui.edu/flockhart/table.htm --Kurt
Guest guest
It would probably be good if before people respond to a message, that they read responses that have already been made to a question or a statement. I know I have been guilty of just answering a question before reading previous responses, and the issue may be due to whether you get your messages off the website, in individual emails or a daily digest. I am certainly not picking any one out, I am just finding it more and more difficult to keep up w/ all the messages-what 100 or so/day? > > No sudafed and benadryl are quite different. > Posted by: " Rosie " _rosiecox@... _ > (mailto:rosiecox@...?Subject= Re:%20CFS,%20psychotropic%20meds% 20and%20withdrawl%20..%20Kirt) > _octrosie20 _ (octrosie20) > Sun Nov 12, 2006 3:21 am (PST) > Hi there, > > Is Benadryl the same thing as found in Sudafed and such like - > cough/throat medicines? Guest guest
Thanks-I didn't realized that the number of posts had dropped of from 3,000 per month in August, to about 1/2 of that now. In my case it must be me wanting to read everythin. MC In , " Adrienne G. " <duckblossm@...> wrote: > > 65 yesterday. > Adrienne > Re: CFS, psychotropic meds and withdrawl ..
