Guest guest
Hi Welcome to our group!! I am glad you joined us. We'd love to hear more about your daughter's plagio story, how old is she? How'd she develop plagio? etc.etc. etc... Has she been casted for her band yet? As for your insurance problem, you're unfortunately not alone. Many of our posts in here are regarding ins. denials. It's too bad ins. companies fight these bands and helmets. I did a search of our archives for the past year and didn't turn anything up on UHC, but I swear we've had posts about it before. Maybe it was on the Cranial Technologies parents discussion board I had seen it before (www.cranialtech.com but I know it's not current). For some reason United Health Care of North Carolina is really sticking in my mind. I hope one of our group members can help you more. In the mean time check out this site for other ins. tips. http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support/insurance.htm Are they denying it because it is " out of network " ?? If your policy states they cover orthotic devices, then you should have a good case. Again, welcome to the group. We look forward to getting to know you & your daughter more . Guest guest
We have the same problem with UHC. I called several times to make sure the DOC Band was covered. I was told it was covered 80/20 under durable medical equipment. After we jumped through all the hoops, we were denied because any orthotics aren't covered under our policy (they are under some UHC policies and my doctor said she has gotten them to pay before). Anyhow, our insurance agent is having us appeal on the basis that we were misled by the c/s reps. We are supposed to find out about the appeal tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. Were you originally told it was covered? I would keep track of all the names and dates. We decided to go ahead with it. Dane has been in his DOC Band since 2/14. The place we go does have payment plans, but I don't know if they all do. It has only been 2 weeks and we have seen some improvement since he just hit a growth spurt. Guest guest
I will be taking Summer to Atlanta and the insurance coordinator called the insurance company to find out my coverage. She said I had orthotics and medical supply coverage. The insurance tod my ped. yesterday that they were going to find a chaper place that was in- network. I think once she researches she will find that there is not a place.(I hope) The insurance lady has been rude to Cranial Tech and my ped. I am calling her tomorrow. I'm glad you reminded me to write everything down! Denisha florida > > My daughter was just diagnosed with positional plagiocephaly 2 > weeks > > ago.
