Hi Bozena,

It's always so nice to hear from you! Yes, I suppose none of us WANTS to have to go through the procedure of a transplant, but if it is absolutely necessary to save our lives for a few more years, we will do it. I just keep hearing about the increase in quality of life once we have a liver that works...sometimes it's hard to remember what it was like to really feel good...but then again, we do have to take into account that we are aging and the aches and pains endured just by that process can increase the symptoms of our liver illness. My belly has been opened up so many times for biopsies, hysterectomy, and the tube tube down the throat for banding of esophageal bleeds and the tube the other way for colonoscopy...I just want to be healthy and have more energy besides stopping the progression of my failing liver. I will have more blood tests in 2 weeks (now my blood sugar is too high so I have a new Dx of Diabetes, type 2). If the bili and albumin have elevated, I will need to go back to Miami to see the transplant team. Danny (my son) is still in a cast and can't walk for 12 weeks, so I am just praying that my numbers will be OK.

That is very interesting that "if it were your doc, he would go on cyclosporine for 2 months"...please let me know what he says on the next visit and what you have decided. (BTW, that was very clever asking him what HE would do if it was HIS illness...good for you!)

I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Re:

If anyone would like to share with me how there child adjusted and any helpful hints on making the adjustment into the band that might help me .

Hi ,

My 71/2 month old son also has moderate/severe bracheycephly and he just got his band yesterday (Sun. March 10th)! He is doing great so far. He doesn't seem to know it is on his head. If he does know it is there, he doesn't care. When I first saw it on him I thought I was going to cry, but then within just a few minutes of having it on he was laughing about something. I felt so much better almost immediately. There were two other babies there also getting banded for the first time and they were pretty fussy at that time. But even those babies didn't seem to mind their bands. Once I saw that was ok with it, I began to get excited that we were on our way to improvement. We had a 2 1/2 hour drive home yesterday and he wore his band. He smile and laughed as usual and also slept part of the way home. He is doing great so far.

We are doing spot checks for redness every three hours today. During the first check he had a few red marks but they faded within about 15 minutes so if we have two more good checks today, he may be sleeping in his band tonight. We are also having good luck with the sweating, I thought he would be very sweaty! His hair was a little wet from sweat when I took his band off, but it wasn't too bad. Plus, they say the sweating goes away after the first week or two.

The only part I am a little concerned about is taking him out in public for the first time. I'm not sure I'm ready for that, but we'll get through it.

Good Luck, I'm sure will do great.

MI

Hi my name is and my 8 mo has severe brachecephaly. She was casted last week. I have to say that went very well. Much better than I expected. She should be getting her helmet next week. I thought once we got this far the anxiety would get less. I am so stressed waiting to see how she will adapt to her bandAlso I am from NY and I wonder if anyone in this group has any experiences (good or bad) with the N~I.C. Band.

Thanks for you help and insight

I'm finding we all react differently to Achalsia. I

have a hard time tolerating ice cream, it won't go

down right away and I sometimes spit it up.

When you say " spasm " do you mean chest pain?
