Dear Friends

Greetings from PWN+.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Positive Women's

Network (PWN) in collabration with the State level Network, Council

Of people living with HIV/AIDS in Kerala, (CPK+) are organizing a

Public Hearing " Addressing Concerns of women living with HIV/AIDS " ,

at Hotel Highland, Manjalikulam road, Thampanoor, Trivandrum-695001

Former Judge of the District Court of Trivandrum Retd.Mr.C.J.Simon

would be the presiding Jury of the Public Hearing. Ms. Nirmala

Seetharaman, Member Secretary, NCW will deliver the thematic address.

This initiative is the culmination of a series of initiatives taken

by the National Commission for Women to mainstream issues of women

living HIV/AIDS and their concerns. In a recent fact finding study

conducted by NCW, it found instances of stigma and discrimination

against women living with HIV/AIDS. PWN had undertaken a study to

document the Human Rights concerns of women living with HIV/AIDS in

the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Emerging from these

initiatives, the Commission has expressed the necessity of placing

these issues within a rights based framework ensured by the

Constitution and other statutory provisions.

Two Public Hearing have already been completed in Karnataka and

Chennai. This is the third hearing being organized in Kerala.

We invite all interested people to attend the meeting and offer your

valuable experiences in bringing about a change for women living with
