Guest guest
Denisha: I'd be very upset if my daycare did that! Make sure you tell em again tomorrow what to do & esp. what not to do with the band! Uggg. As for the smell, you live in FL., so try leaving the band in direct sunlight while it's off Summer's head. This might help dry the band of it's stink. I also sprayed Abby's hair with leave in hair conditioner, this helped cover up the odor. Hang in there! Guest guest
Denisha, Oh how I don't miss those stinky days!! My twins wore their bands during the summer, so we had our share of stinky days too. What strength alcohol are you using? We used 91% and were able to get it over the counter, however you can ask your pharmacist to get you 99%. The stronger, the better. Once you clean the band, leave it in direct sunlight to help it dry, and that helps kill off the stink. Plus, when you give Summer her bath, shampoo her hair right away, but don't rinse it off until the end of her bath. We used Loreal for Kids Watermelon Shampoo and it really smelled nice. On really hot days, I cheated a bit and did 2 cleanings. Once they would wake up in the morning for the day, I would give them their baths and really scrub the band, and after they woke up from their naps, I would shampoo their hair again and clean the band. Even though we had an air conditioner in their room, they always sweated the most when they were sleeping. I can imagine that you are really frustrated with the people at Summer's daycare. Maybe you can print out instructions on the proper way to put Summer's band on and how to adjust it. Be sure they know that if its not on right it will cause those nasty red spots. I'm sure other parents here will be able to tell you what they did to get their daycare to listen. Good luck Denisha! Guest guest
P.S. Denisha, If you have a DOC band- they give you that hand out about how to care for the band, etc.- make a copy of that and it will explain a lot to them. If not, make up your own do's and don't's list and put it on their refrigerator for all to see (I was major annoying and highlighted important areas that would effect them, i.e., DON'T PULL THAT VELCRO STRAP TIGHT, ONLY FOLD OVER!!)
