Guest guest
Hi my son had an ear infection at 4 mo. and another at 6 mo. which both cleared up fairly quickly with antibiotics. Well, at 13 mo. he got another one which I am still fighting over a month later. He is now on his 4th antibiotic after the first three failed to work. I was told if this doesn't work he has to be referred to an ENT for possible tubes. The ped said it could possibly be allergies. I do know he is lactose intolerant, and I took him off milk several weeks ago. It hasn't seemed to do anthing to help his ears clear up though. Any thoughts or suggestions? Guest guest
Amy, I'd take him in to get checked tomorrow. Tugging at the ears is a sign of ear infections, but so is teething. Dane used to get a LOT of ear infections before his plagio was corrected. Sometimes with and sometimes w/o a fever. Now he just seems to get them when he gets a cold that won't go away. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Guest guest
Amy, Yes he can have and ear infection. This course is why the doctors no longer prescribe antibiotics for every ear infection. He may just go through and get over it, keep up with supportive measures like Baby Vicks chest rub to help him breathe, and tylenol or motrin, but if the fever comes back then you'll want to have him checked. Guest guest
Yes, he could. Both of mine had ear infections with no fever present. Take him in, worst case, you have peace of mind and just out a copay.
