PLWA network formed (Nagaland, North East India)

OASIS PLUS formed

Dimapur, March 26 (NPN): In a major breakthrough with regard to HIV/AIDS

scenario in Dimapur, a group of ten People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), all

members of Oasis, Dimapur, formed a group " OASIS Plus " on March 25, 2004, to

give visibility and voice to PLWHA in Nagaland, to reduce stigma and

discrimination, to fight for their rights and to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The members also pledged to support each other and work as peers in order to

promote Units of at-least five (5) PLWHA, in their respective localities. This

was stated in a press communiqué issued by Tokheli Chisi, Asst. Director North

Eastern Drug /HIV training Center (Nedhiv).
