Guest guest
hey everyone..my step mom emailed me this..wanted to pass it on... brenda mom of tucker Virus! Beware Clinton Cartoon E-MailBy Cathryn Conroy, CompuServe News Editor It's billed as a cartoon of former U.S. President Bill Clinton playing the saxophone that you can use as a screen saver, but it's really a computer virus that will delete your files and slow your network connections. If you receive an e-mail message with the subject line: "bill caricature," DO NOT download the executable attachment that comes with it. Delete the e-mail. Called "MyLife.b," this Internet worm is rated a medium risk because of its ability to lure users to open it and the damage it can cause if it is downloaded, April Goostree, virus research manager at McAfee.com Corp. told Reuters. The virus is spread by Microsoft Outlook, but users of all types of e-mail programs can receive it. Get a shot of viral protection! The Virus Central Support Forum has anti-virus programs you can download and install right now. The body of the e-mail text message tries to mislead users into thinking the attachment is safe. It says: "No Viruse Found" (with the word "virus" misspelled as "Viruse") and "MCAFEE.COM." Don't be fooled! Anti-virus messages are never delivered this way. According to Reuters, once the attachment is opened, the worm drops a copy of itself in the computer's system folder. If the computer is rebooted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., it will try to delete all files on the C, D, E, and F drives and certain files in the Windows system directory. And if that isn't bad enough, the worm will also slow down your e-mail and Internet connection. It is not yet known from where the virus originated, but it has affected users in 29 countries. Hardest hit are the United States, Australia, and Great Britain.
