2nd casting for reevaluation

My son is looking at getting out of his DOC Band either this week or

the next and they would like to do another casting to compare his pre

band head shape vs post band head shape.

He was casted about 4 months of age and is now about 6 1/2 months old,

and appears to have achieved excellent results.

I would like to hear from others about their experience...did you put

your child through this again?

I still am awaiting a decision from the insurance company about

payment so I don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Anyway, I would appreciate the thoughts of others...did you do it,

did you not do it and why or why not?

That's terrific! The decision whether or not to exit mold is tough.

I decided to get Abby's done, just because it was nice to see exactly

how her head improved. It is often recommended for younger babies,

like Jonathon. At 6 mos. his head shape still could regress - DON'T

LET MY COMMENT scare you, regression is quite rare, but if you ever

were to worry that his head was flattening again post band, you would

have his exit mold to compare his then current head shape to.

Also, you said you were still waiting for insurance & wondering if

that would play into your decision. The exit cast is included in the

original cost of the DOCband - they don't charge extra for it.

I'm glad to hear Jonathon has done so well in such a short time. Be

sure you let us know when he is officially graduated - good luck with

your casting decision!
