Guest guest
A bodybuilder shot a woman in his home, and the bullet hit a pipe in the wall, causing a leak. Mold grew on a piece of the woman's flesh on the bullet and spread, since the leak went unnoticed in between the walls. The spores started eating his brain and they found him dead on the floor, oozing stuff from his ears. They showed a fungus covered brain when they removed it. They gave a name for the type of mold but I didn't get off the couch to write it down. Did anyone else catch its name? It was kind of interesting how they made it seem like he deserved to die from mold in the story. It automatically ruled out sympathy for his mold poisoning by making him a " bad " guy. <toria@...> wrote: OH MAN, I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THIS ONE!! Guest guest
The name of the mold was mucor, rhizopus. Causing the person to die from mucormycosis. > > > > Greetings all- I got a news alert about an episode of CSI tonight in > > which a bodybuilder dies from toxic mold- from the " inside out " . Guest guest
Finally had a chance to watch it...the bodybuilder died from " Rhizopus oryzae " . The airborne mold spores went into his nasal cavity & consumed sinus tissues as the spores multiplied. > > OH MAN, I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THIS ONE!! Guest guest
Date: Mon Feb 28, 2005 9:31 pm Subject: Mark Tatum /message/23358 Barb & Members, Yes, there was a man named Mark Tatum. He passed away in February. He was a close friend of mine and I had spoken to him several hours prior to his passing away. This information was put on several times and on mold-help.org, look for the story named, " In memory of Mark Tatum. " had used many good pictures of Mark on this story and also on the press release that came out. I have not gotten a response yet for the exact cause of death. I did not comment on the CSI show when it was mentioned here on this board, because it just hit too close to home at that time. They showed this infection of a bodybuilder and what this type of infection is capable of doing. Several federal agencies don't even consider mucor or the fungi that it takes to cause mucormycosis as one of the toxic molds. Go figure. I have had a difficult time on another board with Mark's sister, who feels that he did not have a fungal infection and does not want his name associated with " Mold Victims " , since she feels he is not one. He did not get a fungal infection, he caught something from a compost heap. DUH. She is afraid that somebody might benefit from his illness and that we will make thousands. NOT even considering, because of his exposure, the amount of lives that may be saved or even preventing someone else from experiencing this horrible infection. She also stated the last visit to the doctor that Mark did not feel this was caused by mold. I know better and so did Mark and I don't believe this for a second. I knew Mark and how much he wanted to get involved with this movement, he could not wait to get involved moreso by speaking in public. As far as there being stachy in his home, I do know that the testing on his home was done several years after his surgery. He had been gardening one day and developed severe head pain. This was the first indication that something was wrong. He woke up three months later in the hospital. I do know that he had shoulder surgery done prior to and a back injury that he was receiving steroid therapy for. This in itself probably weakened his immune system. If not directly, but indirectly. God love him, KC > > > > The same stuff that got Mark Tatum! > > But remember - he found Stachy in his house to account for the > immune > > suppression that may have allowed the Mucor to take away his face. > > -
Guest guest
was this supposedly a true story? thanks all!! v. [] Re: News alert (CSI) Would someone who saw this please send a report? Guest guest
Have been wanting to add to this post, and forgot all about it. FORGET! What is that huh! Durn. Anyway, have known about Mark thru medical journals. And sure hope they did an autopsy. :-( Bless Him! Have you heard anymore KC? Serveral others have had similar maladies. Think I said before..when I see FDA approved I cringe. When A lot of sites, that these durn molds leave lesions in one particular part of the brain mainly. I haven't seen a release of the autopsy, which they probably won't. This durn mold, Rhizopus oryzae <known to cause the mucor, has been used to produce lactic acid, <see below> And used in fermentation of products. Bless you KC and everyone on the board... What else is the government hiding? Things they haven't really tested? Just let things be produced and if we or animals become ill, more $$$ to the Drs etc. Forgot whom it was that signed a post <climbing back in their bubble if free of PCB's> I am also. Just what all is in our food. These regulations that stuff is allowed in SMALL amts in our food to me is BALONEY! P.S. , I myself beleive it was the stacky that accounted for the immune suppression. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ < The infection can involve the lungs, central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and skin, but it is probably best known for its rhinocerebral presentation, which usually originates in the nose and sinuses and eventually extends to the orbit and brain.> ___________ And as usual the FDA says: ( The strain of ...Rhizopus oryzae is nonpathogenic and nontoxic..... © The carbohydrase is produced under controlled conditions to maintain nonpathogenicity and nontoxicity, including the absence of aflatoxin. http://www.grokfood.com/regulations/173.130.htm Arragh......... ____________________________________________ http://aem.asm.org/cgi/content/full/66/6/2343 .. Rhizopus oryzae is used for industrial production of lactic acid, of NAD-dependent lactate dehydrogenase from Rhizopus oryzae. Food Chem aem.asm.org/cgi/content/full/66/6/2343 Rhizopus oryzae is used for industrial production of lactic acid, yet little is known about the genetics of this fungus. In this study I cloned two genes, ldhA and ldhB, which code for NAD+-dependent L-lactate dehydrogenases (LDH) (EC 1.1.1.27), from a lactic acid-producing strain of R. oryzae. These genes are similar to each other and exhibit more than 90% nucleotide sequence identity and they contain no introns. This is the first description of ldh genes in a fungus, and sequence comparisons revealed that these genes are distinct from previously isolated prokaryotic and eukaryotic ldh genes. Protein sequencing of the LDH isolated from R. oryzae during lactic acid production confirmed that ldhA codes for a 36-kDa protein that converts pyruvate to lactate. Production of LdhA was greatest when glucose was the carbon source, followed by xylose and trehalose; all of these sugars could be fermented to lactic acid. Transcripts from ldhB were not detected when R. oryzae was grown on any of these sugars but were present when R. oryzae was grown on glycerol, ethanol, and lactate. I hypothesize that ldhB encodes a second NAD+-dependent LDH that is capable of converting L-lactate to pyruvate and is produced by cultures grown on these nonfermentable substrates. Both ldhA and ldhB restored fermentative growth to Escherichia coli (ldhA pfl) mutants so that they grew anaerobically and produced lactic acid. We report herein a case of primary cutaneous zygomycosis caused by Rhizopus oryzae in a 7-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) receiving intensive chemotherapy. The diagnosis was based on observation of hyphal elements in cutaneous biopsy and isolation of the fungus in culture. The patient responded to surgical intervention and treatment with amphotericin B. ENZYMES IN USE FOR DIETARY PURPOSES IN THE U.S. PRIOR TO OCTOBER, 1994*http://www.enzymetechnicalassoc.org/dietarysupplement_list.html The following table lists the enzymes that ETA members reported to be in use prior to 1994. The enzyme class (e.g. amylase) is listed and the source of the enzyme follows (e.g. Aspergillus oryzae). http://www.ohiolink.edu/etd/view.cgi?osu1104333442 Lactic acid has been widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries. Recently, the worldwide demand has been increasing due to many new industrial applications. Lactic acid bacteria have been used in lactic acid production because of their high growth rate and product yield. However, the limitations including costly substrates and complicated product recovery make bacterial fermentation economically unattractive. In contrast, filamentous fungi such as Rhizopus oryzae can directly produce optically pure L(+)-lactic acid from carbohydrates present in agricultural residues and plant biomass; therefore, can overcome the problems in bacterial fermentation. > > KC > > > > > > > > The same stuff that got Mark Tatum! > > > But remember - he found Stachy in his house to > account for the immune suppression that may have allowed the Mucor to take away his face. > > > - > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
" What else is the government hiding? " ----------- >>>>>Omigosh, you shouldn't have asked that question!!! It's not only what the govt is hiding, but it's also what people are NOW just discovering about the areas where they live. I know I'm going to get off-topic real soon, but just wanted to share these tidbits with you folks... - Children getting cancer in Fallon, Nevada, but apparently " The studies turned up no link to high levels of naturally occurring arsenic in Fallon's water supply, a pipeline carrying jet fuel to the Navy base, local pesticide spraying, high tungsten levels, or an underground nuclear test conducted 30 miles away about 40 years ago. " - " The Columbia River is one of the glories of the Pacific Northwest. It is also home to the sprawling Hanford nuclear site with its 53 million gallons of radioactive waste, some of it leaking from underground tanks. More than 1 million gallons of waste has already seeped into the soil, and more leakage is likely from the aging underground tanks... " - " The burning ruins of the World Trade Center spewed toxic gases 'like a chemical factory' for at least six weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks despite government assurances the air was safe, according to a study. " - " U.S. weapons experts are struggling to deal with the remnants of a decades-old biological weapons program. They are trying to find potentially dangerous materials — once shrouded in secrecy — with only poorly kept records and fading memories to go on. Thousands of tons of hazardous substances like anthrax are at stake. Only the hunt is not in Iraq. It's in land. According to The Washington Post, the U.S. Army has spent two years and $25 million cleaning up an area of central land's Fort Detrick that was used as a target range and waste dump. " The above is the very reason why I read the news as much as I do--to stay informed. > What else is the government hiding? Things they haven't really > tested? All the people in these communities are pointing at the modified military jet fuel: JP-8, but the government has adopted the " Bart Simpson " Defense: I wasn't there, I didn't do it and besides you can't prove anything " . -
