Guest guest
, Thank you for your suggestions. I have written hard copies to the senators. Im my state offices and Washington DC offices. They all also have copies of my medical records. If I get emotional, Iit is because I live in my bubble and have been fighting this for two years with no help. I have also listed dates, sent the letters certified mail. Thank you for your suggestions. Janet
Guest guest
Hi Janet - first off, I want to say I'd admire your persistence in contacting these government officials..and I sincerely hope Serena's suggestion that members on this Board leave voice mail on your behalf has done some good. I'd like to offer some suggestions for your next letter. I realize that you've been emailing these officials, but I think you'll also need to send an actual hard copy to several people (definitely the senators) via certified mail. And somewhere near the top of the letter, write " Sent via Certified Mail " . Secondly, give dates & facts, better yet, write a Chronology of Events so that everyone reading your letter sees the pattern of exposure and the health consequence to you. Don't forget to put the dates of when the basement was cleaned by people wearing Hazmat suits & respirators. Also, include the dates you were granted disability and the period you received it. Oh yeah, list the actual building & room names/numbers you are referring to. Thirdly, strip out all emotional statements ( " WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN????????????????? " , " This Thursday, I have to go through this torture. I feel like a Jew going to to concentration camps to die " from your Feb 12th email, " I DO NOT BELIEVE IN OUR GOVERNMENT ANYMORE OR THE SANCTIONS OF BEING A UNITED STATES CITIZEN!!!!!!!!!!!! " from your Feb 6th posting, etc.). If you insist on writing emotional statements, wait 'til the very end (ideally the last paragraph) AFTER you've disclosed all the pertinent facts. Fourthly, is the area where you had worked still toxic? Do you know anyone who is currently sick ....and are you in contact with them? You may not want to list their names but if, in fact, you know the number of people who are working there and are unquestionably sick, you could also include that in your letter. For example, you could write it as " At the present time, I am aware that there are <<the # of people>> employees who are currently suffering from <<list all the ailments here>>. Ideally, you want to make the connection that the rooms/area you've been saying is toxic really is, because the people working there are having medical issues. Fifthly, I'm thinking in either the 1st or 2nd paragraph, list the dates that you emailed the govt officials. You had posted 2 letters here in February (6th & 12th), plus one recently, so that's already 3 dates you can list. Sixthly, do you have a copy of your entire medical records (all the MDs you went to see)...is it in chronological order? You may want to copy a few sets of it because I think you should write in the last paragraph something to the effect that you are more than willing to provide a copy of your medical records. That's all I can think of for now. > Senator collins office 207 283 1101 > Congressman Tom s Office 207 774 7096 > > Subj: Janet s UIll from Mold at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. > Date: 4/22/2005 2:15:49 PM Pacific Standard Time > From: Gingersnap1964 > rep.tomallen@m..., cfs4@c..., editor@p..., > feedback@n..., Foxreport@f..., joel.segal@m..., > .Conyers@m..., jpeak@p..., kbouchard@p..., > mcdonald.michael@e..., .W.sey@s..., _Morin@s..., > newscenter@w..., president@w..., rep.mikemichaud@m..., > RepSally.Lewin@l..., sallymehse@c..., > sanders.william@e..., Sen.Brennan@l..., Olympia@s..., > StateRep@e... > CC: Deidre_@c..., lown@n... > BCC: > > > > > Dear Honorable Senators , Congressman and Representatives, > This is Janet s. Guest guest
Janet - came up with a few more ideas for your " next " letter. Dig out ALL your letters, find the very first one you wrote & count how many total letters you've written since then. Your 1st sentence should read something like " This is the 25th letter I've written to you since April 25, 2003. " And start out every single letter hereafter with the number of letters you've written. Depending on whether or not you've ever received a response, you may want to include a sentence about that too, so it would read " This is the 25th letter I've written to you since April 25, 2003 and I have yet to receive a response to my <<<whatever it is you want>>>. Towards the end, you'll want to specify a time frame on when you would like to hear back from them, so " I would appreciate a written response to this letter within 30 calendar days. " You'll want to ask if there is someone else you should be contacting, because that could very well be the case.
