Chronic Fatigue Patients Show Lower Response To Placebos

Contrary to conventional wisdom, patients with chronic fatigue

syndrome respond to placebos at a lower rate than people with many

other illnesses, according to the first systematic review of the

topic.

What! Then this article goes on to discount the fact that people with CFS

don't respond to placebos. That maybe they don't respond because they think

there is NO hope for them and they shouldn't respond.

This is ridiculous. What if a report came out and said " Contrary to

conventional wisdom, people with broken legs do not respond well to placebos " .

Hello! Maybe the more logical explaination would be the reason CFS sufferers

don't respond to placebos is because they are physically ill!

Exactly. Conclusion should be 'Gee, patients must be experiencing

real physical symptoms, contrary to the belief of many, proven by not

being fooled by placebo. Geez!!!!!!!!

Oh, good heavens no! Haven't you heard? We're all supposed to be these Type A

sort of personalities. Obviuosly, the problem is that we are distrustful,

selfishly motivated, and prone to stubborness. The fact that we reject placebos

is the direct result of these character defects. It's a terrible irony - we're

sick because of who we are, and untreatable for the very same reasons. It's a

medical mystery, all right. We would doubtless benefit by more cognitive

behavior therapy, meditation classes, and more exercise.

Now get crackin', you slackers!
