AID=/20050508/APN/505080718 & cachetime=3 & template=dateline The Associated Press May 08, 2005 ARTICLE FEATURES • e-mail this article • print this article • discuss this article Almost three years after it opened, the ton County Judicial Center is a mess, judges, clerks and secretaries say. The $48 million building has had leaking, moisture and mold problems since it opened on a rainy afternoon in 2002. " We evacuated the judges nine months ago, " said Clerk of Court Armstrong, who has helped manage the building crisis. " We've got them spread all over the complex, in all the nooks and crannies. " Contractor B.L. Harbert International of Birmingham, Ala., has been making repairs at its own cost and has identified the sources of all the leaks, said county building projects director Dan Chandler. Harbert spokesman Ben said the company's crews are making significant progress. " Nobody yet has been able to give us a timeline for this project. That's what I find extremely frustrating, " Armstrong said. " I just don't see the contractor stepping up to the plate. He needs to be more aggressive. We have a $48 million building that wasn't right from Day 1. " --- Information from: The Post and Courier,
