Guest guest
Mold is described in the Bible in the book of Leviticus. Was somehow forgotten and is only now being " rediscovered " . Yet all the people who are unfortunate enough to be involved in this rediscovery are being fought by vast numbers of entrenched doctors who mysteriously show the least interest in a phenomenon that should have instantly caught their attention. This " lack of interest " and rejection of information is so startling that I wondered if this is a characteristic peculiar to doctors as a result of their exalted station and vested interest in maintaining a demeanor of superiority. And so I find new examples of this " doctor disinterest response " every day. I just heard the exciting news of the re-discovery of the ivory billed woodpecker, a bird thought to have been extinct since it hasn't been seen since the 1940's. Many bird watchers have this woodpecker on the " life list " of birds to look for as it is kind of like " The Holy Grail " of birds. To find one is like a miracle. Now the interesting part is that the two ornithologists who caught a fleeting glimpse of one after following up on reported sightings were instantly believed when they presented their momentary sighting of a bird in rapid flight seventy feet away to Cornell University. They had no photos and yet their report of a fleeting glimpse alone was considered reliable enough to constitute a " re-discovery " . None of the other bird watchers reports of sightings counted for squat. The excited ornithologists who claimed credit for the rediscovery expressed it this way: " They weren't qualified observers " . Theoretically, a million " unqualified observers " could have pet ivory billed woodpeckers roosting in their living rooms and until a " qualified observer " actually observes one, it doesn't mean a thing and barely makes a dent in the brains of " qualified researchers " . Furthermore, while these " researchers " were discussing the difficulty in locating more birds and that they had been unable to get any photographs or find a nest site, a caller phoned in to the National Public Radio program to say that he had been sighting the birds for years, knew of a nest site and offered to lead them to it. Now one might think that this offer would be met with interest and enthusiasm. Not at all. They did not talk directly to the caller, asked no questions or made any effort to get contact information. Instead, they told the program moderator that anyone with information could leave it on a general bird sighting website if they wished to. Once again, an offer of information to researchers about specific information relevant to their field receives the " Disinterest Response " and is treated with a disdain that borders upon contempt. Incidentally, the mere sighting by these researchers in this area generated millions of dollars in funding to buy land and protect the area. While the sighting of this rare bird is incredible and every effort should be made to protect and preserve the woodpecker and its habitat, How much effort has been made to research your moldy habitat? After HOW MANY SIGHTINGS OF THIS PHENOMENON? How many schools have to spill sick children out on the streets before the mere sighing of them by a " qualified observer " makes the reality REAL? Why do avowed researchers turn around and RUN when you present them with the very information they claim they are looking for? Is it only that unless this information comes from another doctor, it is " unqualified " and therefore, does not exist? Is it that this unwanted information induces their disinterest unless they can somehow undo the prior sighting and make the re- discovery for themselves? Even when doctors must surely know the price that their patients must pay for their deliberate disinterest? Doctors are strange birds indeed. -
