Guest guest
Hi Fletch; I'm familiar with this and other sealers that contain antimicrobial agents within the sealer. When I called about Bin, the technical expert informed me that they have similar products with antimicrobial agents to prevent mildew/mold/bacteria growth guaranteed for 5 years however I cannot tolerate the antimicrobial agents and would become ill from them. We talked about this, even discussed applying a sealer with the antimicrobial agents first on the wood and drywall we didn't remove, then apply the BIN to cover the odor; however after much discussion we decided as long as my house is watertight, no more roof leaks and the mold is no longer present than I shouldn't have a problem and this double coating would only be a waste of money and time. And.....this is very important, mold remediation must be done before any sealer can be applied including . If you go to their link http://www.fosterproducts.com/Images/foster_tds/40-50.pdf it states the same as my BIN Technical Expert advised me. That is it prevents mold from growing on the actual sealer or paint, not the wood, drywall or other surface the sealer is applied to. And if mold is still present in the wood, drywall or whatever under the sealer and paint it can continue to grow. Hope this makes sense, Rosie [] Re: Sealant for exposed 2X4's > Barb, > > s is what at mold-survivor has said is one of the only > mold encapsulating paints that has EPA papers that it can prevent > molds from growing through (I believe that what what she said).
