Guest guest
> Can anyone confirm what the white flecks in nails signifies? > I have heard that it is when the nail separates from the nail bed, the white is the pocket under the nail above the bed. Might be a mineral deficiency. But if you bang/bruise your nail, as someone else in this thread mentioned, that might separate the nail from the bed and cause a white fleck. My son once had a fungal infection under his toenail, resulting eventually with the loss of half his toe nail, and it was white under the nail while the infection spread. Guest guest
Stacie,One thing for sure, fake nails sure ain't Organic! . . . I'm sure they would give you a lift emotionally . . . but truthfully, you don't need any more exposure to toxic chemicals than you already have.Have you seen the nail buffers?. . . like an emory board but smooth? . . . They'll make your nails look polished (clear of course) - without polish.Hugs,Rogene
Guest guest
Stacie, NO fake nails! I had an allergic reaction to mine last spring and lost all my natural nails. It is easy to become chemically sensitive when you have toxic implants. Don't take a chance with these. --- In , Stacie Hall <staciehall40@...> wrote: > > > okay ladies, > > I'm trying to make myself feel better and thought about having my nails done. Guest guest
I shut my thumb in the car door and thought I'd never have a nail on it again. But after over a year, I finally have an almost normal nail. It's amazing how the body can heal itself in some instances. Guest guest
Group and Sue; Ouch, I know that hurt. Wow it took that long to grow back. Wonder why it took so long. Sorry to hear you shut your thumb in a car door. My aunt shut my finger in the car door when I was a wee little girl. She felt so bad. My finger was crooked ever since. gentle hugs Clora *********************************************************** > I shut my thumb in the car door and thought I'd never have a nail on it > again. Guest guest
It's easy to judge nail growth, just look at how often you have your nails cut or sanded. I think the rule of thumb (no pun intended) is about 1/8 " every month. At that rate, my thumb nail would take more than 4 months to be replaced, and that's with no damage to the nail bed. When that nail bed is damaged, the nail will be distorted in some way, so, Sue, maybe that will explain the difference in your nail. The next fix would be fungus. That would be a blessing, wouldn't it? Dennis in eastexas On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 1:05 PM, Sue <marysue@...> wrote: > Yes, it took a very long time for the nail to regenerate itself. Guest guest
Yes, it took a very long time for the nail to regenerate itself. I guess nails grow that slowly. It's still not completely normal on the right side, and may never be. Yes, it hurt: worse than childbirth and worse than a migraine. At first I screamed, and then I cried. But I was surprised that it didn't hurt that much by the next day. Sue On Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 11:00 AM, CLORA wrote: > > Group and Sue; > > Ouch, I know that hurt. Guest guest
That was such a terrible injury to that nail. The nail bed on my other thumb is permanently damaged, and I don't even know how I damaged it. I have a line down the nail all the way to the nail bed, and at the tip the nail is split. I have to keep it cut as short as possible, or it catches on things. Actually, I have to keep all my nails cut short because they break and peel so badly. And I say no to fungus, LOL. Guest guest
Hi Group, I know we were saying earlier that one of the things we love about this group is the lack of one-up-manship But on this topic I cannot resist! -Left Finger shut in car door = 1 -Right Thumb shut in car door= 1 -Left Thumb shut in car door & then door locked = 1 ( & I had to compete in Shot put a couple of hours later, I cam forth in our region & threw a PB) & most recently... -Smashed left index finger with hammer whilst hammering staples on new Chook pen. I think I broke it (above the top knuckle), it's been more than 3 weeks & it is still a bit swollen & hurts if i knock it. About 1/2 of the nail, towards the nail bed, is black & the nail hasn't grown since . I can bend it. I can now fully empathise with people you see with a Black nail Oh & I was a really good girl, I didn't cuss...In fact I couldn't speak, lol. In vain I was holding my armpit so the pain wouldn't travel any further Sharon
Guest guest
Group and Sharon;  Wow, Ouch, OMG, That's a whole heap of pain..  My pet skunk bit my finger it hurt so bad I laid on the couch and screamed lol. I read the hands feet and face is the most tenderous place on the body.  I am sure we all had the awful painful accidents with these parts on our bodies.   I get a sprained ankles easy. That hurts when you take your foot up, not when you place it on the floor. Just lift it up and pains seers through your foot. Ouch.  Sharon keep your hands away from car doors lol,,, I think you already know this. I closed the trunk on my friends hand,. I had to open the trunk in the car. In the mean time she is screaming in pain. I wanted to run when I got the trunk open. She was in to much pain to pop me in the nose lol.  I watched daddy hammer his fingers to many times. They didn't have nail guns way back then. He has been with the lord 9 years today. I miss him so much. He is my hero. He fought in 2 wars. The korean war and world war 2.  Today has been so hard for me. I was daddy's girl. MY eyes are welling up with tears. OK love you all, God bless and take care.  gentle hugs Clora  ********************************************      From: bon_mac18 <bon_mac18@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Nails Date: Saturday, November 1, 2008, 5:14 PM Hi Group, I know we were saying earlier that one of the things we love about this group is the lack of one-up-manship But on this topic I cannot resist! Guest guest
OUCH, Sharon!! My fingers just hurt thinking of all the times you have smashed yours! Be careful, you! That's a lot of pain to your hands. Sounds like you should have that left index finger looked at. It may be too late to do anything about a broken bone, but they can surely check it to make sure you aren't getting gangrene or anything serious like that on it.............Doreen > > Hi Group, > I know we were saying earlier that one of the things we love about > this group is the lack of one-up-manship But on this topic I > cannot resist! > > -Left Finger shut in car door = 1 > -Right Thumb shut in car door= 1 > -Left Thumb shut in car door & then door locked = 1 ( & I had to > compete in Shot put a couple of hours later, I cam forth in our > region & threw a PB) > & most recently... > -Smashed left index finger with hammer whilst hammering staples on > new Chook pen. Guest guest
Clora, Doreen, Sue & group, I'm just really thankful that it was my left index, not my right. That would have made work really hard ! I'm also hoping if the nail does fall off, the new nail will be normal- current nail is deformed from door slamming That would be a huge bonus! I don't have any obvious deformity in that joint, I imagine it would be more painful to hit my right slightly deformed joint!?! I'm also thankful we don't have skunks in australia... Guest guest
Sharon and group;  I am glad also that it was you left index finger. It will probably grow right unless it is deformed now. There may not be a deformity looking at it. It could be inside where you can't see it.  I hope you had it x-rayed. If no insurance than I understand . So many people are with out insurance in The USA. God bless hon and take care  Not me I had a pet skunk lol, it was descent-ed. I didn't know there was no skunks in Australia. I think everyone has medical Insurance in Australia too.  gentle hugs Clora  Clora, Doreen, Sue & group, I'm just really thankful that it was my left index, not my right.
