President CHES,

To

Respected Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Honorable President of India

Honorable President of India,

This is an important issue. I think the honorable President's concern is very

crucial, other wise this culture will spread to neighboring state also. We have

been working with orphaned children due to AIDS since 1994. These children have

lost so much in their life and cannot afford to lose further.

In a Focus group discussion among teachers at Chennai on Stigma and

Discrimination they did mention that if the Honorable President of India gives

out messages and instructions on how to handle Stigma and Discrimination they

would believe the authenticity of the message. Hence on behalf of these two

children and other children in the country I request your kindself to kindly

intervene.

People working in HIV at Kerala have tried their level best and are in need of

help. We hereby confirm our support for the cause.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Dr.P.Manorama;MD;DCH;DM{GASTRO}

PRESIDENT CHES, CHENNAI.

Dear friends,

Positive Women Network, (PWN+) fully agrees with the points Dr. (Sr.)

Vadakekara MBBS, PGDCAP (UK) has raised with regard to this incident.

PWN+ a self help organisation of women living with HIV has children living with

HIV who pursue their studies in schools with Other children.Till date we have

not recieved any reports of HIv transmission to other children.

Psycologically children crave for a social relationship and depriving them of

this opportunity due to HIV status should be condemned.

Our children of PWN+have scored high marks and most of them stand first in their

respective classes.

Government should take active responsibilty in providing opportunites for HIV

Infected children to pursue education through normal school system.

Involvement of PLWH/A in Education programmes would be greatly appreciated.

PWN+ has successfully implemented programmes involving PLWH/A as postive

speakers and has brought in a positive change towards HIV related issues.

regards,

kousalya

President,

Positive Women Network,Chennai
